Overview

The Instant Solo Coffee Maker is a single-serve coffee machine designed for ease of use and convenience, allowing users to brew coffee using either K-Cup® pods or their own ground coffee with a reusable pod. The device emphasizes sustainability through its packaging and offers various features to customize the brewing experience and ensure proper maintenance.

Function Description:

The Instant Solo Coffee Maker's primary function is to brew single-serve coffee. It operates by heating water and passing it through a coffee pod or ground coffee to produce a hot beverage. Users can select from three serving sizes: 8 oz, 10 oz, and 12 oz. A "Bold" setting is available for those who prefer a stronger, more flavorful cup of coffee, which works by increasing the brewing time to extract more flavor from the coffee grounds or pod. The coffee maker is designed for simple operation with an intuitive LED control panel.

  • Reusable Coffee Pod with Handle: Included with the coffee maker, allowing users to use their own medium to medium-fine ground coffee (approximately 2 tablespoons).

    1. Fill the water tank to the MAX fill line.
    2. Place a K-Cup® pod or the reusable coffee pod (with ground coffee) in the brewing housing container.
    3. Close and latch the brewing lid.
    4. Optionally, press "Bold" for a stronger brew.
    5. Select the desired serving size (8 oz, 10 oz, or 12 oz). The selected button flashes during water heating and illuminates when brewing begins.
    6. Brewing can be stopped at any time by pressing the selected cup size button again.
    7. Once brewing is complete and dripping stops, discard the used pod or grounds.

Maintenance Features:

  • Initial Set Up: Involves removing packaging, placing the Solo on a stable surface, removing a foam cushion from under the water tank, and plugging in the device.
  • Clean Before Use: Before the first brew, the water tank and reusable coffee pod should be hand-washed with warm water and dish soap, rinsed, and dried. The coffee maker base and control panel should be wiped with a damp cloth.
  • Initial Cleaning Program: Before brewing the first cup of coffee, a cleaning program should be run without a coffee pod. This involves filling the water tank to MAX with cold water, placing a large mug under the spout, and running two brewing cycles (8 oz and 10 oz) to flush the system.
  • Regular Cleaning:
    • Water Tank: Remove and handwash with dish soap and warm water.
    • Reusable Coffee Pod: Remove and handwash with dish soap and warm water, or place in the top rack of a dishwasher.
    • Stainless Steel Drip Tray: Remove and wash by hand with dish soap and warm water, or place in the top rack of a dishwasher.
    • Coffee Maker / LED Panel: Clean the outside with a damp dish cloth.
    • Power Cord: DO NOT fold when storing.
  • Descaling / Removing Mineral Deposits: Regular descaling is recommended to prevent mineral buildup, which can affect brew temperature and strength. The 10 oz and 12 oz keys will flash after 300 cycles as a reminder.
    • Descaling Process:
      1. Combine a descaling solution (Household descaler:water ratio 1:4, or Citric acid:water ratio 3:100).
      2. Ensure the reusable pod is in the brewing housing unit.
      3. Fill the water tank to the MAX line with the cleaning mixture.
      4. Place a large container (at least 40 oz / 1183 mL) under the drop nozzle and ensure the brewing lid is latched.
      5. Touch and hold the 10 oz and 12 oz keys for 3 seconds. The mixture will run through until the tank is empty.
      6. Discard the mixture, place the emptied container back.
      7. Rinse the water tank and fill to MAX with cool, clean water.
      8. Touch and hold the 10 oz and 12 oz keys for 3 seconds again to rinse the appliance.
      9. Discard the rinse water.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Brewing reaches high temperatures; avoid touching the brewing housing unit or spout during the process to prevent injury.
    • The coffee maker contains electrical components. Hand wash only.
    • DO NOT rinse or immerse the coffee maker, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids to avoid fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
    • Use a large enough container for descaling to hold the entire contents of the water tank to avoid personal injury and/or property damage from hot water.
