The Instant™ Vortex™ Plus ClearCook Dual Air Fryer 2 x 4L is a kitchen appliance designed to cook delicious meals with less oil and less hassle, providing the rich, crispy flavor of deep frying through rapid air circulation. This dual air fryer features two independent cooking baskets, allowing for versatile cooking options, including preparing two different dishes simultaneously with different settings, or matching settings for both.
Function Description
The Instant™ Vortex™ Plus ClearCook Dual Air Fryer offers six Smart Programmes: Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat, Grill, and Dehydrate. Each programme is designed to achieve specific cooking results, from crispy fries and wings to tender roasted meats and vegetables, baked goods, and even dried fruits and jerky.
- Air Fry: This programme uses rapid air circulation to crisp or cook food, ideal for items like fries, cauliflower bites, wings, and nuggets. It provides a crispy texture with minimal oil.
- Roast: Designed for foods such as beef, lamb, pork, poultry, vegetables, and scalloped potatoes, the Roast programme delivers a deliciously tender inside and a browned outside.
- Bake: The Bake programme transforms the Vortex Plus into a "mini oven," suitable for baking breads, cakes, pastries, and buns.
- Reheat: This function is perfect for bringing back the crisp and crunch to leftovers like fries, pizza, and stale bread in just a few minutes, without any preheating time.
- Grill: The Grill programme utilizes direct top-down heating to melt cheese on dishes like French onion soup and nachos, providing a quick browning effect.
- Dehydrate: This programme uses low heat over an extended period to safely dry out food items, such as dried fruit, jerky, and dried vegetables.
Usage Features
The control panel of the Instant™ Vortex™ Plus is designed for simplicity and ease of use, featuring a clear display and intuitive controls.
- Dual Basket Cooking: The primary feature of this air fryer is its dual basket design, allowing users to cook in both baskets simultaneously. There are three main options for dual basket cooking:
- Cook in both baskets (different programmes/settings): Users can set up distinct programmes and settings for each basket, enabling the preparation of two different dishes at once.
- SyncCook: This feature allows both baskets to cook at the same time using identical programmes and settings. Once the first programme is set, pressing the SyncCook button will automatically apply those settings to the second basket. Users can still adjust cooking time and temperature for both baskets while SyncCook is active, or for individual baskets, which will deactivate SyncCook.
- SyncFinish: This intelligent feature allows users to set different programmes and settings for each basket, but ensures that both cooking cycles conclude at the same time. The air fryer calculates the necessary cooking times and starts each basket at the appropriate moment to achieve simultaneous completion. If one basket is removed during SyncFinish, the other basket will pause to maintain synchronization.
- Individual Basket Control: Users can select either basket 1 (left) or basket 2 (right) to set up and manage cooking programmes independently.
- Temperature and Time Control: Dedicated buttons for "Temp" and "Time" allow users to easily increase or decrease cooking temperature and time using the Control Dial. These settings can be adjusted before starting a programme or even during cooking.
- Preheating: For Air Fry, Roast, Bake, and Grill programmes, the appliance preheats to the target temperature. The display shows "Preheating" and then "Add Food" when ready. The Reheat and Dehydrate programmes do not require preheating.
- Turn Food Reminder: During certain cooking cycles (Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Grill), the display will show "Turn Food" to prompt users to flip or rotate their food for even cooking. If the basket is not removed within 10 seconds, cooking will automatically resume.
- Start and Cancel Buttons: A "Start" button initiates the cooking process, while a "Cancel" button allows users to stop cooking at any time. Cancelling without selecting a specific basket will cancel both.
- Sound On/Off: Notification sounds can be toggled on or off by pressing and holding "Time" and "Temp" for 5 seconds. Error alerts, however, cannot be turned off.
- Temperature Unit Selection: The cooking temperature can be displayed in either Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F) by pressing and holding "Temp" for 5 seconds.
- Smart Programme Reset: Individual Smart Programmes can be reset to their factory default settings (time and temperature) by selecting the programme and holding its button for 3 seconds. All Smart Programmes can be reset simultaneously by holding the Control Dial for 3 seconds while the cooker is in Ready mode.
- ClearCook Windows: The cooking baskets feature ClearCook windows, allowing users to monitor the cooking progress without opening the baskets, thus maintaining consistent cooking temperatures.
- Lights: Lights inside the cooking chamber illuminate the food, making it easier to see through the ClearCook windows.
Maintenance Features
Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and safe operation of the Instant™ Vortex™ Plus.
- Cool Down Before Cleaning: Always allow all parts of the air fryer to cool down to room temperature before cleaning.
- Unplug Before Cleaning: To prevent electric shock, the appliance must be unplugged before any cleaning is performed.
- Do Not Immerse: The power cord, plug, and the main appliance unit should never be immersed in water or any other liquid.
- Cooking Trays: The cooking trays are dishwasher safe. They feature a non-stick coating, so metal utensils should be avoided during cleaning to prevent damage.
- Removable Air Fryer Basket: The removable air fryer baskets should be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild dish soap.
- Cooking Chamber: The interior of the cooking chamber should be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild dish soap. It is crucial to regularly check the heating coil and chamber walls for oil splatter and food debris, cleaning as needed. Ensure the heating coil is completely dry before using the air fryer again. For stubborn baked-on grease and food residue, a mixture of baking soda and vinegar can be sprayed on the affected area, allowed to sit for several minutes, and then wiped clean with a damp cloth.
- Power Cord: The power cord should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth or sponge and then wiped dry.
- Dry All Surfaces: Before storing or using the appliance, ensure all surfaces are thoroughly dry.
- Packaging Recycling: The packaging is designed with sustainability in mind and should be recycled where possible. Users are advised to keep the manual and the Safety, Maintenance, and Warranty guide for future reference.
