TheBatteryGuard®1000providesasolutionforprotectingyourbatteriesfromdischargingtoalevelthatmight
damageyourbatteriesortoalevelthatpreventsthevehiclefrombeingstarted.TheBatteryGuard®1000
constantlymonitorsthevoltagelevelofthebatterytodeterminethelevelofcharge.Whenthevoltagedrops
belowthelowvoltagethresholdforaspecifieddurationoftime,theBatteryGuard®1000willautomatically
disconnectthebatteryfromthesystemload,protectingthebatteryfromexcessivedischarge.
IftheBatteryGuard1000®sensesachargingpotentialforaspecifieddurationoftime,thenitwillautomatically
reconnectthesystemload.Thisconditionusuallyoccurswhenachargingdeviceisconnectedtothebatteryor
theengineisrunning.
ConnectingandDisconnectingtheSystemLoads
TheBatteryGuard®1000acceptsamomentaryswitchinputsignal.Thisswitchallowsusercontroltomanual
disconnectorreconnectthesystemloadsattheuser’sdiscretion.Simplypushandreleasethepushbuttonand
theBatteryGuard®1000willswitchstates.Keepinmind,thedevicehasabuilt‐instatechangedelayof5
secondstopreventconstantcyclingofthedisconnect.
Note:Iftheuserchoosestodisconnectthesystemmanually,theBatteryGuard®1000willnotautomaticallyreconnectifit
sensescharging.
Alarmindication
Analarmoutputisusedtoprovidetheuserwithvaluableinformationaboutthestateofthedisconnect.Thisisa
highsideoutputalarmthatislimitedto300mA.WhenusedwithIntellitec’sBatteryGuardSwitch(11‐01085‐
001),thisoutputistiedtoanLEDindicator.
SolidOn–Indicatesthatthesystemloadsareconnected,andthebatteryvoltageisabovethelowvoltage
threshold.
Flashingat½Hz–Indicatesthatthesystemloadsareconnected,andthebatteryvoltageisbelowthelow
voltagethreshold.
SolidOff–Indicatesthatthesystemloadsaredisconnected.
