INTENDED USE
The Piccolo audiometer is designed for use by audiology specialists
conducting pure tone and speech audiometry examinations. Audiometric
tests must be conducted in a particularly quiet environment, and preferably
in a soundproof booth. If these conditions cannot be provided, the patient
should be given sound-isolating headphones to wear, so that ambient and
background noise can be blocked out as far as possible.
PRECAUTIONS
Users are entirely responsible for any malfunction attributable to
improper use, or to maintenance or repair operations that have
been carried out by persons or providers other than Inventis srl or
an authorized Service Centre.
Installation
The Piccolo audiometer is a medical device. Any other external
device to which it is connected within the “patient area” must also
be a medical device, or must be protected by an isolating
transformer.
Avoid installing and using the Piccolo audiometer close to sources
of strong electromagnetic fields, as these could interfere with the
operation of the device.
If the Piccolo audiometer is powered only by way of a USB cable,
maximum values effectively obtainable (in AC and BC) are 10 dB
lower than the maximum values nominally obtainable.
Calibration
The calibration is valid only for the transducers supplied with the
device. If a transducer is replaced, the audiometer must be
recalibrated.
Use
The audiometer can deliver tones at intensities that could
potentially damage the patient’s ear. Be certain to set the stimulus
at a suitable intensity before presenting it to the patient.
The eartips of ER-3A and ER-5A insert earphones and the
masking earphones are disposable: do not use the same tips for
different patients. Dispose of eartips after use.
