Usage Features

Basic Operating Logic: The unit operates based on a set point temperature. If the water temperature is less than the set point temperature, the unit will start heating. If the water temperature is 32°C or above, the unit will cool down to 28°C if in "cooling" mode. If the internal water flow switch deactivates due to pool filter pump switching off or insufficient flow, the unit will de-activate 3 times and show "E8" before initiating full shutdown.

Installation: The unit should be installed outdoors and within 7.5 meters from the pool. It requires a minimum clearance of 500mm on the side, 1000mm at the back, and 1500mm at the front for proper airflow. The unit must be installed on a solid, level surface with anti-vibration rubber feet. Plumbing connections require 50mm PVC pipe. A bypass ball valve must be installed to adjust water flow. Electrical wiring must be done by a qualified electrician, and a circuit breaker is required (specific sizes are provided in the manual based on model).

Operating Modes: The unit supports Heating Mode, Cooling Mode, and Pump Mode. The desired mode can be selected from the main screen.

Display and Interface: The unit features an LCD controller with various symbols indicating its status (e.g., heating, cooling, pump mode, Wi-Fi, lock, boost function, silent function, timer, alarm, compressor).

Error Codes: The unit displays error codes on the controller to indicate malfunctions or protection activations (e.g., bA for ambient temp. sensor out of operation range, E2 for communication failure, F6 for EXV fault).

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance: The heat pumps are designed to be maintenance-free but require external factors (water/air quality, accumulation of dirt/leaves on the evaporator and more) to be serviced at least once a year. Regular cleaning of the heat exchanger and air outlet of the unit is necessary.

Ensure the heat pump is free of leaves and other items that may obstruct the inlet/outlet vents.
Keep shrubs pruned back at least 50cm around all sides of the heat pump.
Rinse the heat pump's evaporator (the aluminum fins that make up most of the back of the unit) with slow flowing fresh water once a month to help reduce corrosion.
It is recommended to have the heat pump serviced at least once a year by an ITS authorized person.

Advanced Rust Protection: For installations near the ocean (20-50km radius) and in other corrosive air environments, the heat pump should be coated with an ITS approved anti-corrosion coating. More information on this can be found at www.bluchem.co.za.

Heat Pump Error Codes: If the unit goes into an error mode, consult the error code table in the manual. The unit may only be repaired by an ITS authorized person.

Freeze Protection: The unit has electronic freeze protection built in. It should not be used without power during sub-zero winters or be in use for an extended period of time when the water in the unit is discharged.

Swimming Pool Chemistry: Special attention should be given to the chemical balance of the pool water. The chemical levels should always remain within the following limits:
