Section 6. Exponent less than a decimal point
ST 4 displays decade values to one digit beyond the decimal Exponent Real number-
0.1 1.3point.
0.2 1.6Thus ST 4 can measure more accurate compared to the relative-
0.3 2.0value of resistance.
0.4 2.5
0.5 3.2Please refer the table right
0.6 4.0
0.7 5.0For example, when the instrument gives a decade value of
0.8 6.35.8, table can be used to add additional precision to the
0.9 7.9measurement as below
58 08 08
10 10 10 × 10
...
==
≒=(Ω)6.3 × 10 0.63M
Other example, in case of 8.2
≒=(Ω)10 1.6 × 10 160M
82
.
Section 7. Probe cleaning
The insulated part of the probe is fluorocarbon polymer so this is high resistance and
preventive from dirt. You can test using an insulating object ( fluorine resin, 10 /sq or
13
above) or metal object. If the probes and the surfaces are clean each test should illuminate
[OUT OF RANGE] Attention: If the probe is not clean enough, the value showed on LCD
may be lower than real value.(in particular high resistance object measurement Also you
can test using clean surface metal object ( 10 /sq or below). LCD should show [OUT OF
RANGE]. Attention: If the probe rubber is not clean enough, the value showed on LCD may
be higher than real value.(in particular low resistance object measurement
In case of [OUT OF RANGE], the probe has dirt on it. Thus remove accumulations of dust,
dirt, and oils using pure isopropyl alcohol on a lightly moistened swab. Allow probe
assembly to air dry prior using. After dry, please perform same test again.
Even after c leaning, if the equipment test does not show properly, it may has
function/mechanical problems. Thus please contact SIMCO Japan Inc. or Simco Japan's
authorized agent in you r area.
ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD
Please clean the electrode part after turning off the power switch without fail.
