Overview

The Ivation Digital Gun Safe is a shelf-mountable security device designed for household use, providing a secure location for valuables. It features a digital keypad for access, supplemented by emergency keys for alternative entry.

Function Description

The primary function of the Ivation Digital Gun Safe is to secure items through a combination lock system. Users can program a personalized 3 to 8-button combination to open the safe. In the event of forgotten combinations or low battery, two emergency keys are provided, allowing manual access. The safe is designed to be mounted to a shelf, which is crucial for its proper locking mechanism and overall security. Failure to mount it in an upright position can compromise its safety. The safe's internal design includes a drawer that can be removed to facilitate battery installation and access to mounting holes.

Usage Features

  • Opening the Safe:
    • With Key: To open the safe using a key, insert the key into the key lock (1) and turn it clockwise. The drawer will automatically open. This method is also used for initial setup, battery installation, or if the digital combination is forgotten or batteries are low.
    • With Combination: To open the safe using a combination, the user enters their programmed 3 to 8-button sequence using the combination buttons (2). After each correct button press, the buttons will light up green, and a beep will sound (if the sound is turned on). If the correct combination is entered, all buttons will flash green, and the door will open. There is a 10-second window between button pushes for the safe to recognize the complete combination.
  • Closing the Safe: To close the safe, simply push the drawer until it automatically locks.
  • Combination Programming:
    1. First, open the safe using the key and ensure batteries are installed.
    2. Locate the RESET BUTTON (3) inside the safe.
    3. Press and hold the RESET BUTTON for 3 seconds.
    4. Upon hearing two beeps (if sound is on) and seeing all three buttons flash green twice, the user has 5 seconds to begin entering their new combination.
    5. Enter a desired 3 to 8-button combination using the combination buttons (2). Each button press will be accompanied by a beep and green light.
    6. After entering the combination, press the RESET BUTTON again within 10 seconds to record it.
    7. Two beeps and two green flashes will confirm the combination is recorded.
    8. For final confirmation, re-enter the combination and press the RESET BUTTON again. Two beeps and two green flashes indicate successful recording.
    9. If an 8-button combination is used, only the initial press and hold of the RESET BUTTON is needed; subsequent presses are not required for confirmation.
  • Incorrect Combination Handling:
    • If an incorrect combination is entered, the safe will beep 5 times (if sound is on), and the buttons will flash red.
    • Entering an incorrect combination 3 consecutive times will trigger a 2-minute lockdown period. During this time, the safe will beep 5 times (if sound is on), and the buttons will flash red twice. After the lockdown, a single beep and green flash will signal that re-entry is possible.
  • Keypad Sound Control: The safe comes with the keypad sound turned on by default. To turn the sound off, press and hold the right-side button for 3 seconds until the buttons flash red. Repeating this process will turn the sound back on.
  • Mounting: The safe is designed for shelf mounting.
    1. Remove the drawer by pulling down on the pressure points on either side of its track and pulling it out.
    2. Position the safe on the desired shelf and mark the pre-drilled mounting holes on the bottom with a pencil.
    3. Remove the safe and drill 3/16” pilot holes at the marked locations.
    4. Place the safe back on the shelf, aligning the holes.
    5. Secure the safe to the shelf using the provided screws and washers.
    6. Reinsert the drawer into the safe.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Installation/Replacement:
    1. Open the safe using the key.
    2. Remove the drawer by pulling down on the pressure points on either side of its track and pulling it out.
    3. Locate the battery cover and push its locking tab with a screwdriver to release it.
    4. Install 4 AA alkaline batteries into the compartment (4).
    5. Click the battery cover back into place, ensuring the rear tabs are in the appropriate slots.
    6. Avoid mixing old and new batteries, or alkaline, standard, and rechargeable batteries.
  • Low Battery Indication: If the batteries are low, the combination buttons will flash red when pressed, indicating that batteries should be replaced as soon as possible.
  • Important Reminders:
    • Always record your combination and the safe's serial number and store them in a secure, memorable location separate from the safe.
    • Never store the emergency keys or combination inside the safe itself.
    • Keep keys and combination in a secure place away from children.
    • Contact Ivation Customer Service for replacement keys, providing the safe's serial number for reference.
