Overview

This document outlines the General Commercial Limited Warranty for IVC US Laminate flooring, covering various aspects from product specifications to installation, care, and claim procedures. The warranty ensures that IVC US laminate floors will perform as expected under normal circumstances when installed and maintained according to the provided guidelines.

Function Description

The IVC US General Commercial Limited Warranty for Laminate flooring serves to protect the original end-user against manufacturing defects, issues with click connection integrity, household stains, fading, and wear-through of the wear layer. It provides a framework for proper installation, maintenance, and outlines the conditions and obligations for owners to maintain warranty coverage. The document also details the process for filing a claim and the remedies available should a warranty claim be approved.

Important Technical Specifications

The warranty covers IVC US Commercial Laminate Flooring Collections, specifically 8mm and 12mm products from the Balterio brand. These products are designed as floating floor systems.

  • Warranty Coverage:

    • Manufacturing Defects Warranty: Ensures the floor is free of manufacturing defects.
    • Click Connection Integrity Warranty: Guarantees the locking system remains connected and preserved.
    • Household Stain Resistant Warranty: Protects against permanent stains from common household products (excluding permanent marker, dyes, and finishing stains).
    • Fade Resistance Warranty: Ensures resistance to fading over time (laminate is fade resistant, not 100% fade proof; superficial fading/gloss variation is not considered a fault).
    • Wear Resistance Warranty: Covers complete loss of the wear layer, altering the printed pattern (gloss reduction and reduced resistance of V-Groove are not covered).
  • Installation Requirements:

    • Temperature & Humidity: Room temperature must be between 65°F - 85°F (18°C - 29°C) for 48 hours before, during, and after installation. Relative indoor air humidity must be maintained between 40% and 65% year-round.
    • Subfloor Flatness: Maximum 3/16 inch in a 3-foot span (4 mm in a 1-meter span).
    • Moisture Barrier: Required for concrete substrates. IVC US recommends Balterio ComfortSound underlayment (an all-in-one solution with moisture barrier). If using a separate underlayment/moisture barrier from another manufacturer, the warranty may be void.
    • Concrete Subfloor Moisture Levels: Must be 8 lbs. or less per 1000 square feet per 24 hours (anhydrous calcium chloride test per ASTM F1869) or max 85% RH (ASTM F2170). CM Method humidity should not exceed 2.5%.
    • Radiant Heating: Can be used if warm water lines are min. 1.2 inches (3 cm) underneath the surface. Contact temperature of the floor must not exceed 85°F (29°C), and max warm water temperature 122°F (50°C). Electrical underfloor heating must not exceed 60W/m2.
    • Expansion Gaps: Minimum 3/8 inch (8 mm) along the perimeter and fixed objects. Spacers must be placed at least every 20 inches (50 cm). Connection profiles (T-molding) are required every 40 feet (12 m). Adjoining row joint separation must be at least 10 inches (25 cm).
    • Installation Method: Floating system; must NOT be nailed or glued down. Cabinets or walls should not be installed on top of laminate floors.
  • Commercial Use Application Chart:

    • Healthcare: Med Clinics, Retirement Centers, Doctors' Offices, Hospice, Assisted Living (Recommended for corridors, patient rooms, lobby, waiting rooms, cafeterias, exam rooms, common areas).
    • Corporate: Professional Offices (accountants, lawyers, etc.), Banks (Recommended for offices, hallways, lobby, reception areas, bathrooms, break rooms, conference rooms).
    • Retail: Main street, Boutiques, Retail Store, Art Galleries, Bookstores, Coffee Shops, Dry Cleaners, Gift Shops, Jewelry Stores, Beauty Salons, Barber Shops (Recommended for dressing rooms, entire store).
    • Multi-Family Housing: Apartments, Condos, Military Housing (Recommended for any room, including common areas).
    • Hospitality: Hotel, Motel, Restaurants (Recommended for guest rooms, lobby, hallways, excluding commercial kitchens).
    • Education: Daycare, Pre School, Elementary and Secondary Learning, Universities, Libraries (Recommended for dorms, common areas, cafeterias, class rooms, auditoriums, libraries, excluding gymnasiums).
    • Note: Spas, saunas, steam rooms, pool areas, and/or excessive moisture areas are NOT approved or warranted.

Usage Features

  • Floating Floor System: IVC US Laminate products are designed as floating floors, allowing installation over virtually any hard surface.
  • Click System: Features PressXpress (PXP) and DropXpress (DXP) locking systems, allowing for flexible starting positions (right-to-left or left-to-right).
  • Acclimation: Flooring must acclimate for a minimum of 48 hours in the installation area.
  • Subfloor Preparation: Subfloor must be clean, smooth, flat, dry, and sound. Squeaky floors should be repaired, high spots sanded/planed, and low spots filled.
  • Doorframe Preparation: Doorframes can be undercut to allow planks to slide underneath.
  • Mixing Planks: To achieve maximum appearance, planks from two to three cartons should be mixed.
  • Transition Pieces: Recommended in each doorway and for rooms with immediate access to the street.
  • Furniture Protection: Furniture should be supported with wide, weight-bearing, smooth non-staining floor protectors or felt pads (at least one inch in diameter, resting flat on the floor). Chair mats are recommended under chairs/stools with wheels/casters.
