3.3 Half-wave voltage (V) at low frequencies (kHz)
The half-wave voltage (V), is the voltage needed to induce a phase shift on the optical wave. With
the intensity modulator, which is a two-wave interferometer, it corresponds to the driving voltage
necessary to vary the optical output from the maximum of power to the minimum of power (see
the Modulator Transfer Function, MTF):
