What causes excessive vibration in Jabiru Engine?
- CCharles TorresSep 18, 2025
Excessive vibration in a Jabiru Engine can arise from several sources. The propeller might be out of balance, requiring balancing according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Propeller tip tracking could be out of tolerance, necessitating a check and adjustment. Uneven propeller blade pitch can also cause vibration, so check and adjust the blade pitch. The spinner might be out of balance, so check and adjust its balance. An unsuitable propeller type could be the cause, with quality 2-bladed fixed pitch wooden types being recommended. Incorrect tuning can lead to vibration, so check and adjust the carburetor. Lastly, ensure that no engine components, air ducts, exhaust, or oil cooler are rubbing on cowls or the fuselage.
