ual hardness to 10 °f (100 mg/l of CaCO
3
. As an alternative,
you can use special chemical products (called organic or in-
organic sequestrants) that inhibit the formation of carbonate
crystalline.
In the case of water with a hardness lower than 10 °f (100 mg/l
of CaCO
3
), which can occur when using mountain water sup-
plies or in the case of particular geological areas, it is con-
venient, in order to avoid corrosion phenomena on the Maxi-
Jacuzzi metallic components, to use suitable products to block
and neutralize the excessive amounts of CO
2
(carbon dioxide)
that are present.
TREATMENTS
Super-chlorination (or "shock treatment")
Just after installation, and after long periods of non-use, the
MaxiJacuzzi must be subjected to super-chlorination treatment,
or shock treatment. This is to disinfect the tubcompletely. The
frequency of super-chlorination depends on the frequency of
use of the MaxiJacuzzi. Afterwards, maintenance treatments will
be sufficient.
Fill the MaxiJacuzzi up to the level mark that is on the skim-
mer (
2, detail B).
Check that the pH, the total alkalinity TA and the water hard-
ness are correct; if not, act according to the recommendations
in the related paragraphs.
CAUTION
Before proceeding with the addition of disinfec-
tant always check, and if necessary correct, the
pH value.
Add 5 ÷ 10 mg/l of chlorine in quick dissolving granules
to the water in the spa
.
CAUTION
Do not use the skimmer basket to introduce
chemical additives. If solid additives are used, y-
ou are advised to dissolve them beforehand in a
bucket or use a basket available from specialist
distributors. Follow the manufacturer's specific
instructions and recommendations for use of the
above substances.
• Set the filtering cycle (see corresponding paragraph) and let it
operate until the level of chlorine residue in the water drops to
normal levels (2 ÷ 3 mg/l); this normally occurs after a few
hours (it is advisable, however, to leave the filtering system in
operation for at least half a day).
• As an alternative, you can also activate rapid filtering (“Instant
Clear”, see the corresponding chapter; this function lasts about 45
minutes). When the time is up, it is advisable to check the remain-
ing level of free chlorine (see above) and to run the function again
in order to achieve the recommended values (2 ÷ 3 mg/l).
CAUTION
Do NOT use the spa until the level of free chlo-
rine has dropped to normal levels (2÷3 mg/l).
Do not use the thermal cover during super-chlo-
rination as the chlorine can attack the metal parts
(chrome-plated accessories etc.). Other values of
chlorine or bromine (> 10 mg/l) may not be de-
tected by the test kit reactants, while there is ac-
tually an excessive amount present.
If disinfectants have been added in amounts over
10 mg/l, the operator must forbid, as his re-
sponsibility, the use of the MaxiJacuzzi
®
. The
dosage and method of use require qualified per-
sonnel.
Normal chlorination (or regular maintenance)
To ensure quality and avoid possible deterioration, the wa-
ter must be treated, or chemically conditioned.
The water level must be kept constant to guarantee correct
system operation.
Check that the , pH the total alkalinity TA and the water hard-
ness are correct; if not, act according to the recommendations
in the related paragraphs.
Add the slow dissolving stabilised chlorine to the water
of the spa.
WARNING
Do not use the skimmer basket to introduce
chemical additives. If solid additives are used, y-
ou are advised to dissolve them beforehand in a
bucket or use a purposely-designed basket avail-
able from specialist distributors.
The Manufacturers specific instructions and rec-
ommendations must be carefully followed for use
of the above substances.
When chlorine is added to the water, part of it is wasted on con-
tact with impurities, a part (combined chlorine) blends with
nitrogenated substances forming chloramines and another
part remains available for disinfection: this is the so-called
free chlorine, which should be present in the amount of 2÷3
mg/l.
NOTE: if the chloramines level (combined chlorine with nitro-
genated organic substances) becomes high, it can cause the
so-called “chlorine smell”, and also irritating effects for the
eyes and skin. In this case, it is advisable to carry out super-
chlorination (shock treatment).
Set the water filtering (or rapid filtering) cycles according to
the intended use of the MaxiJacuzzi
®
.
Do not let the free chlorine level drop to below the rec-
ommended value (2÷3 mg/l).
