Function Description

The Jamestown Colten gas grill is a 3-burner outdoor cooking appliance. It features a main grilling area with three independently controlled burners, allowing for both direct and indirect grilling methods. The grill is equipped with a hood that includes a built-in thermometer to monitor internal temperature. A Piezo lighter is integrated for convenient ignition. The grill also includes a removable grease trap and collection tray for easy cleaning. The gas supply is controlled by rotating regulators on the grill body and a valve on the gas tank.

Important Technical Specifications

Usage Features

Before First Use: Before using the grill for the first time, it should be operated at the highest setting without food for approximately 30 minutes to burn off any production residue. The grilling rack should then be brushed with a little cooking oil.

Gas Tank Connection: Ensure all rotating regulators are in the "OFF" position and the gas tank valve is closed. Remove the safety cap from the tank connection thread. Check all seals for damage; do not install additional seals. Screw the coupling nut of the pressure regulator onto the tank connection thread by hand in an anti-clockwise direction (left thread). Perform a leak check by applying soap solution to connections and checking for bubbles.

Ignition: Always open the grill hood fully before igniting. Clean the grilling surface thoroughly and fully open the gas tank valve.

  • Piezo Lighter: Press the left rotating regulator, set it to "large flame," and simultaneously press the ignition button repeatedly until the gas lights. If ignition fails after three attempts, close the tank valve and wait 5 minutes for accumulated gas to disperse before trying again.
  • Manual Igniting: With the gas tank valve fully open, press the desired rotating regulator, set it to "large flame," and insert a long lit match through the hole on the side of the grill basin. Other burners will ignite automatically once one is lit.

Flame Height Adjustment: Turning the regulator anti-clockwise results in a small flame, while turning it clockwise results in a large flame. Large, flickering flames or flames with yellow tips indicate contaminated burner nozzles.

Grilling Methods:

  • Direct Grilling: Food is placed directly over the burners at high temperatures.
  • Indirect Grilling: Food is placed on the grilling rack to the side of the burners at lower temperatures, allowing for gentle cooking without burning, resulting in juicier and healthier food.

After Grilling: Turn the grill to the large flame setting for about 5 minutes to burn off excess fat. Switch off all burners and close the tank valve. Allow the grill to cool completely before closing the lid.

Safety Precautions:

  • Use only outdoors.
  • Accessible parts can become very hot; keep children away.
  • Keep the unit away from flammable materials during operation.
  • Do not move the unit while in use.
  • Close the gas supply at the gas tank after use.
  • Do not modify the unit.
  • Ensure the gas hose is not twisted or bent.
  • Never use charcoal or other solid fuels in a gas grill.
  • Never use the grill under a porch roof or in hollows where gas may collect.
  • Always wear protective gloves and suitable clothing when grilling.
  • Never leave a hot grill unattended after grilling.
  • Never extinguish a gas grill with water.

Maintenance Features

Regular Cleaning (depending on operating conditions):

  • Grill Body: Wipe stainless steel surfaces with soap and water. Avoid sharp objects or aggressive cleaning agents.
  • Grilling Rack: Clean with a grill brush with brass bristles (not steel bristles). Avoid sharp objects or aggressive cleaning agents. Brush the grilling rack with a little vegetable oil to prevent corrosion.
  • Grease Trap: Wipe the grease trap with soap and water. Avoid sharp objects or aggressive cleaning agents.
  • Burners: Clean with a soft brush or compressed air. Clear blocked holes using pipe cleaners or wire.

Regular Maintenance (depending on operating conditions):

  • Gas Connections: Check all gas connections for leaks regularly.
  • Gas Hose: Examine the gas hose for cracks or damage before each use. Replace if necessary. Gas hoses must be checked and replaced regularly according to national regulations and/or expiration dates.
  • Sealed Components: Do not manipulate components sealed by the manufacturer.
  • Gas Regulators: Use only manufacturer-approved and certified gas regulators.

Storage:

  • Outdoors: Cover the grill with a weather-resistant cover when not in use. Allow it to cool completely before covering.
  • Indoors: Remove the gas tank and store it outdoors.

Transportation: If possible, use the original packaging for shipping. Observe national regulations for transporting gas tanks.
