Do you have a question about the JangleBox JB3 and is the answer not in the manual?
Explains how to maximize effectiveness by understanding the On/Off switch, J-Boost controls, and the common Attack knob.
Suggests experimenting with Bass and Treble, setting Gain and Attack to 12 o'clock, then adjusting for satisfaction.
Details how Gain affects volume/compression and Attack affects intensity, noting their interactive nature.
Describes the J-Boost switch for tonal variation and volume boost, adjustable via J-Boost Gain, Bass, and Treble.
Clarifies that J-Boost controls only function when the J-Boost is switched on (blue light).
Recommends placing the JB3 first in a chain and using a 9V power source or battery for operation.
The JangleBox JB3 is a two-stage stompbox compressor designed for guitarists, offering extensive performance and recording versatility. It is handmade in the USA and delivers a distinctive compression edge for both professional and aspiring artists.
The JB3 functions as a compressor with a unique "boost-and-tone" capability, featuring a J-Boost EQ and Gain. It offers true bypass, ensuring that the guitar signal remains unaffected when the pedal is disengaged. The device includes dual outputs, allowing for flexible signal routing. A key feature is the separate, full EQ on both sides of the compressor (regular and J-Boost), providing comprehensive tone shaping. It also incorporates a mute switch for silent operation. The J-Boost side offers adjustable gain, bass, and treble controls, allowing users to fine-tune their boosted sound. An updated IC chip ensures more stable performance.
The JB3 operates on a standard 9V pin negative power source or a 9V battery. When using a 9V battery, compression will decrease as the battery wears down. The J-Boost function can provide up to a 20-25 dB volume boost.
The JB3's versatility stems from its dual-stage design. The On/Off switch (indicated by a red LED) controls the regular Bass, Treble, Gain, and Attack functions. The J-Boost (indicated by a blue LED) controls the J-Boost Gain, J-Boost Bass, and J-Boost Treble. The Attack knob is common to both sides of the compressor, meaning its setting affects both the regular and J-Boost compression. When the J-Boost is activated, the regular Bass, Treble, and Gain controls become inoperable.
The J-Boost can be used in various ways:
Experimentation is encouraged to find optimal settings for individual guitar and amp combinations.
For optimal performance and to take full advantage of its true bypass, the JB3 should be placed first in the pedal chain. This means plugging the guitar directly into the JB3 before any other effects pedals.
