Specication
The Janus C4 I/O Blade is a plug-in unit that can be
purchased with either the Janus C4 Single-Blade
Controller (Part No: JC4-ADV-C2-SNG) or the Janus C4
Multi-Blade Controller (Part No: JC4-ADV-C2-MLT).
Each I/O Blade enables the connection of up to 8
supervised inputs and 8 volt-free relay outputs.
Clearly labelled connectors simplify the task.

The Janus C4 I/O Blade is a plug-in unit designed to expand the capabilities of Janus C4 Single-Blade or Multi-Blade Controllers. It facilitates the connection of up to 8 supervised inputs and 8 volt-free relay outputs, with clearly labeled connectors to simplify installation.

Function Description:

The I/O Blade serves as an interface for various external devices, allowing for the integration of security and access control systems. It supports both supervised and unsupervised input connections, enabling fault detection for enhanced security. The volt-free relay outputs can be used to control low-voltage systems such as barriers or turnstiles, provided the voltage and current limits are respected. The device draws 12V power from the connected Janus C4 Controller.

Usage Features:

Input Connections:

• Inputs 1-8: Each input has terminals for In+ and GND-.
• Contacts Only (no fault detection): Simple switch connection between In+ and GND.
• Supervised (short/open circuit detect): Utilizes 1K resistors in series with the input switch for short circuit detection and a 1K resistor in parallel with a 2K2 resistor for tamper switch detection, connected between In+ and GND.

Output Connections:

• Outputs 1-8: Each output provides Out NC (Normally Closed), Com (Common), and Out NO (Normally Open) terminals.
• Volt-free contacts: These relays are suitable for controlling low-voltage systems, ensuring the voltage across contacts does not exceed 30V and current does not exceed 3A.

Power Supply:

• OUT terminals: OV and +12V for connecting associated devices, providing a 12Vdc power supply.

Maintenance Features:

Blade LED Indicators:

The main Blade LED Indicator provides crucial information about the device's activity and state.

• Status LED:
  • Continuously red: Indicates the Blade is not communicating with the controller.
  • Flashing codes (every 15 seconds) for Blade State:
    • 5 blue flashes: Board is not being monitored; probably no download to controller from Janus C4.
    • 5 red flashes: Wrong device type configured (e.g., Door defined on an IO Blade).
    • 3 red flashes: Out of range device configured.
    • 5 green flashes: No devices configured for board.
    • 5 yellow flashes: Reports electrical issues such as current tripped, over voltage, under voltage, over current, or under current.
• Blade Activity (reported by LED):
  • Yellow flicker (lasts about 30 seconds): Firmware download in progress.
  • Green blink (every 5 seconds): Board running OK.
  • Blue blink: Read activity.
  • Yellow blink: Input state change.
  • Red blink: Output state change.
