Overview

The JETI MBar EX is a sensor designed to measure high pressures of non-corrosive and unionized gases and liquids. It is compatible with the Duplex EX system, which utilizes the 2.4GHz band for communication, allowing for real-time transmission of telemetry data from the model to the transmitter. This data can be displayed on the LCD screen of a connected JETIBOX or on the display of JETI model DC/DS transmitters. The sensor is capable of recording maximum and minimum measured values for both pressure and temperature.

Function Description:

The primary function of the MBar EX is to measure pressure and temperature. It can be used in various applications, such as monitoring pressure in compressed air containers (e.g., for retractable landing gear systems) or controlling oil pressure in hydraulic systems. The sensor offers the ability to set alarms for excessive pressure or pressure drops, which can be signaled audibly via a JETI Tx module (EU only) or a JETIBOX profi.

Beyond its core measurement capabilities, the MBar EX can also function as an Expander, allowing for the connection of other sensors. It can detect logical voltage levels on up to two inputs, which can be used, for example, to detect the securing of chassis. The device supports the EX Bus protocol, enabling comfortable configuration through a dedicated menu in DC/DS JETI model transmitters. Firmware updates are also supported, ensuring the sensor can be kept up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 30x23x13mm
  • Weight: 7g
  • Measuring accuracy of absolute pressure: ±2%
  • Resolution of measured pressure: 0.1kPa
  • Measurement range: 0-1000kPa (150psi, 10bar)
  • Operating temperature: -10 to 85°C
  • Recommended supply voltage: 3.5 - 8.4V
  • Maximum supply voltage: 16V
  • Consumption: 15mA
  • Diameter of the extension: 2mm

Usage Features:

The MBar EX features an "Ext." output for data transmission to the receiver or a connected JETIBOX, and it also serves as a power supply input. Additionally, it has two programmable ports, Ext1 and Ext2, which can be configured for various functions:

  • Disabled: The port has no function.
  • Expander (by default): Allows connection of other JETI model sensors (supporting JETIBOX, Duplex EX, and EX Bus protocols).
  • Logical input No. 1 / Logical input No. 2: Switches the port to digital input mode, detecting logical levels (log. 1 or log. 0) based on applied voltage (0-1V for Log. 0, 1.9-3.3V for Log. 1). These logical inputs can be used for telemetry and to trigger actions in the transmitter.

Connection Options:

  • JETIBOX Terminal Only: Connects directly to a JETIBOX for data display, but without wireless data transfer or audible alert signals from a transmitter module.
  • Receiver and Duplex Transmitter Module: Connects to the Duplex receiver's Ext. socket, receiving power through the receiver. Configuration is done via JETIBOX connected to the transmitter module.
  • Via Expander: Connects to an EXPANDER input, allowing multiple telemetry sensors to connect to one receiver. The MBar EX receives power through the Expander, which in turn is powered by the receiver.
  • Receiver Ext. Socket (with other sensors): MBar EX is configured as an Expander (Ext1 Mode, Ext2 Mode), allowing other JETI model sensors to connect to its free sockets. MBar EX is powered by the receiver.
  • Receiver Ext. Socket (with logical levels detection): MBar EX is configured for logical inputs (Ext1 Mode, Ext2 Mode), detecting voltage levels on the signal wire for alarms or actions in the transmitter.

Setting via JETIBOX:

Upon connection, the JETIBOX displays sensor identification and measured pressure. The main menu, accessed by pressing the 'D' button, includes:

  • ACTUAL VALUES: Displays current pressure (hPa and psi) and temperature.
  • MIN/MAX: Shows minimum and maximum recorded pressure and temperature. The "Reset MIN/MAX" option allows manual clearing of these extreme values by pressing 'R' and 'L' arrows simultaneously for several seconds.
  • SETTING: Provides access to basic sensor settings, including configuration of Ext1 and Ext2 ports (Off, Expander, Log. input).
  • Pressure high alarm: Adjusts the threshold for high-pressure alerts.
  • Pressure low alarm: Adjusts the threshold for low-pressure alerts.
  • Beep pressure alarm: Configures a Morse code letter for audible alerts from the Duplex Tx transmitter module when pressure alarms are exceeded (EU only).
  • SERVICE: Includes "Factory Defaults" to reset settings by pressing 'R' and 'L' arrows simultaneously for several seconds.

Setup via DC/DS Transmitters:

The MBar EX can be configured via any DC/DS transmitter if the paired receiver is in EX Bus mode and the MBar is connected to its Ext. port. The device will be automatically detected and can be configured in the "Model → Device Explorer" menu. This requires transmitter version 2.20 or newer, receiver version 3.14 or newer, and the presence of the MBAR.bin configuration file in the Devices folder of the SD card. The main screen offers a general menu for actual pressure and temperature, measured maximums and minimums, and the ability to reset min/max values manually or via a transmitter driver.

Maintenance Features:

  • Firmware updates: The device supports firmware updates, allowing for continuous improvement and new features.
  • Factory Defaults: A reset option is available via JETIBOX to restore the sensor to its original factory settings.

Important Notes:

  • The sensor should be mounted to a hard surface and protected against vibrations.
  • Pressure tubing should be properly sized and permanently connected to the sensor to prevent damage from frequent disconnections.
  • Modes of Ext1 and Ext2 sockets can be combined (e.g., one as a sensor input, the other as a logical input).
