Overview

The JideTech USB KVM Switch is a versatile device designed to manage multiple computers from a single console, offering various models to suit different connectivity needs, including HDMI and VGA KVM switches. This user manual covers five models: 21UA, 41UA, 94H2, 9138H, and 9116H, ensuring users can find relevant information for their specific product.

HDMI KVM Switch (Model 94H2 - 4 Port)

The 4-Port HDMI USB KVM Switch (Model 94H2) allows one USB console to control up to four HDMI-interface computers, DVRs, or NVRs. It supports superior video quality up to 4K (HDTV) / 4096×2160 at 60Hz, making it suitable for high-resolution displays. The switch is multiplatform compatible, supporting Windows 10/7/2000/XP/Vista, Linux, and Mac operating systems. It offers plug-and-play functionality, simplifying setup, and supports HDCP and auto EDID without emulation. A notable feature is its auto-detection capability: if one computer is powered off, the switch can automatically switch to the next powered-on computer. This feature is off by default and can be enabled by following specific instructions in the manual. The device also includes a memory function to retain settings in case of power-down and supports independent mouse and keyboard switching, even without a USB signal input, allowing for flexible control. An Auto Scan Mode is available for monitoring all connected computers, DVRs, or NVRs, and the switch is equipped with a USB 2.0 Hub for additional peripheral connectivity.

Usage Features (Model 94H2)

The 94H2 offers multiple switching modes for convenience.

  • Button Switch: Users can switch to any port directly by pressing the corresponding buttons on the front panel.
  • Click Mouse Switch: This mode provides two ways to switch using the mouse.
    • To switch to the next port, double-click the middle roller of the mouse, then press the right mouse button.
    • To switch to the previous port, double-click the middle roller of the mouse, then press the left mouse button.
  • Keyboard Hot-key Switch: This is a powerful feature allowing users to switch between computers using specific key combinations. The default hot-key is the right Ctrl key. For example, to switch to a specific port (e.g., port 1), users would double-click the right Ctrl key followed by 1 and then Enter. The hot-key can be customized to Num Lock or Scroll Lock if the default Ctrl key conflicts with other applications.

Keyboard Hot-key Operations (Model 94H2)

The hot-key operations extend beyond simple port switching, offering advanced control over the KVM switch's functions:

  • Switching Ports: Double-click right Ctrl + N + Enter allows switching to a chosen device, where N is the port ID (1, 2, 3, or 4).
  • Auto-Scan Function: Double-click right Ctrl + S + Enter toggles the auto-scan function on or off. Alternatively, the scan button on the front panel can be used.
  • Setting Scan Interval: Double-click right Ctrl + S + N + Enter allows setting the scan interval from 8 to 999 seconds (default is 8 seconds).
  • Beeping Sound: Double-click right Ctrl + B + Enter toggles the beeping sound on or off.
  • Detection Function: Double-click right Ctrl + T + Enter toggles the detection function on or off (default is off).

Maintenance Features (Model 94H2)

The hot-key operations also include maintenance and troubleshooting functions:

  • Reset KVM System: Double-click right Ctrl + R + Enter resets the KVM system to resolve keyboard and mouse freeze issues.
  • Mouse Issues (HP Notebooks): Double-click right Ctrl + F1 + Enter addresses mouse usability problems when HP notebooks enter BIOS.
  • Mouse/Keyboard Issues (Mac): Double-click right Ctrl + F2 + Enter resolves mouse or keyboard usability issues on Mac systems.
  • Mouse Issues (Raspberry Pi): Double-click right Ctrl + Z + Enter fixes mouse usability problems in Raspberry Pi systems.
  • Restore Hotkey: Double-click right Ctrl + TAB + Enter restores the hotkey to its default setting (right Ctrl).
  • Reset Factory Settings: Double-click right Ctrl + ESC + ESC + ESC + Enter resets the KVM switch to factory settings to resolve keyboard and mouse problems.

LED Indicators (Model 94H2)

The device provides clear LED indicators for operational status:

  • Orange Lightning: Indicates the current operating port.
  • Hotkey Lightning: A green light indicates that the "Hotkey on" feature is active (default is on).
  • SCAN Lightning: Indicates that the KVM has entered auto-scan mode.

Sound Card Settings (Optional) (Model 94H2)

The manual provides instructions for configuring sound output through the KVM switch, specifically for HDMI and 3.5mm interfaces.

  • HDMI Sound Settings: To enable sound through HDMI, users need to right-click the volume icon on the desktop taskbar, select "Playback devices," and then choose "AMD HDMI Output" as the default device. A tick status will confirm successful setup.
  • 3.5 Interface Sound Settings: Similarly, for 3.5mm audio, users should right-click the volume icon, select "Playback devices," and then choose "3.5 Loudspeaker" as the default device. A tick status will confirm successful setup.

Troubleshooting (Model 94H2)

The FAQ section addresses common issues:

  • Keyboard or Mouse Not Working: Users should first ensure USB cables are properly connected and powered. After an image switch, a few seconds may be needed for drive recognition. Restarting the KVM can also help re-identify devices.
  • No Display: Users should check cable connections and ensure cables are not faulty.
  • Mouse Clicks Not Working (macOS): For Mac and Linux systems, if the mouse/keyboard is unresponsive, double-clicking right Ctrl + F2 + Enter should restore normal functionality.

8/16 Port HDMI USB KVM Switch (Models 9138H/9116H)

The 8/16 Port HDMI USB KVM Switch (Models 9138H/9116H) is designed for managing a larger number of HDMI-interface computers, offering similar features to the 4-port model but with expanded capacity. It supports one USB console controlling 8 or 16 HDMI computers. It is fully compliant with HDMI 1.4a, HDCP, and EDID, and supports Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio. Video quality is supported up to 3840x2160 at 30Hz, including various resolutions like 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p (HDTV). It is multiplatform compatible (Windows 10/7/2000/XP/Vista, Linux, and Mac) and offers plug-and-play functionality.

Usage Features (Models 9138H/9116H)

  • Button Switch: Similar to the 4-port model, users can switch ports using front panel buttons.
  • Keyboard Hot-key Switch Mode: Double-click right Ctrl + 1/2/3/4...16 + Enter allows switching to any of the 8 or 16 ports.

Hotkey Setting (Models 9138H/9116H)

The default hot-key is the right Ctrl key, which can be changed to Num Lock or Scroll Lock if conflicts arise. The hot-key change procedure is identical to the 4-port model.

Keyboard Hot-key Operations (Models 9138H/9116H)

The hot-key operations for the 8/16 port models are largely the same as the 4-port model, including functions for switching ports, toggling auto-scan, setting scan intervals, controlling beeping sounds, managing detection functions, resetting the KVM system, addressing mouse/keyboard issues on different OS, restoring hotkeys, and resetting factory settings. The only difference is the extended range of port IDs (1 to 16) for switching.

Notes for HDMI KVM Switches

  • N refers to the computer's Port ID number (1, 2, 3, 4 for 4-port; 1 to 16 for 8/16-port) or a number from 8 to 999 for scan interval settings.
  • Activating auto-scan can be interrupted by pressing any key on the panel.
  • If a computer enters sleep mode, users must press the computer's power button to wake it up. It is recommended not to set computers to enter sleep mode when using the KVM.

LED Indicators (Models 9138H/9116H)

The LED indicators are identical to the 4-port model: orange lightning for the current operating port, green hotkey lightning, and SCAN lightning for auto-scan mode.

  4. Turn on the first computer and wait for startup to complete.
  5. Press the face panel button on the KVM Switch to select the second computer (if applicable).
  6. Turn on the second computer and wait for startup to complete. The installation is then complete.

Troubleshooting (Models 21UA/41UA)

The FAQ section addresses common issues for VGA KVM switches:

  • Power Supply: The USB KVM switch does not require an external power supply; it draws power from the computer's USB connection.
  • Hot-Pluggable USB: USB cables can be connected or disconnected while computers are turned on because the USB interface is hot-pluggable.
  • Keyboard Settings Memory: The KVM switch remembers keyboard settings (e.g., Caps Lock, Num Lock) when switching between computers.
  • Switching Computers: Switching is done via push buttons on the front panel.
  • No Display: If connecting a laptop, users can try pressing "Windows + P" to copy or extend the screen.
  • Keyboard and Mouse Not Working: First, verify that the USB port is functional with other USB devices. If functional, reboot the computers and try using the KVM switch again. If problems persist, users may need to download the USB driver from the provided link.
