This document describes the Johnson SELLA70 and SELLA80 washing machines, providing detailed information on their functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.
Function Description:
The Johnson SELLA70 and SELLA80 are front-loading washing machines designed for domestic use, suitable for machine-washable textiles. They offer a range of washing programs tailored to different fabric types and soil levels, including:
- Algodón/Algodão (Cotton): For hard-wearing, heat-resistant textiles made of cotton or linen. Available at 60ºC and 90ºC.
- Sintéticos (Synthetics): For synthetic articles like shirts, coats, and blends. Detergent quantity should be reduced for knitting textiles due to their loose construction and easy foam formation.
- Mix: For mixed loads of cotton and synthetic textiles.
- 20ºC: Default program at 20ºC, with an option for cold water, suitable for lightly soiled cotton laundry.
- Express 15’: An extra-short program for lightly soiled small amounts of laundry.
- Rápido 45’ (Quick 45’): Suitable for not very dirty clothes, saving energy and washing time.
- Rápido 60’ (Quick 60’): For daily wash, achieving good washing performance in about 60 minutes.
- ECO 40-60: Default at 40ºC (not selectable), suitable for laundry washable at 40ºC-60ºC. This program is used to assess compliance with EU regulation 2019/2023.
- Lana/Lã (Wool): For hand or machine-washable wool and rich wool textiles. This gentle wash program prevents shrinkage and includes longer pauses where textiles rest in the wash liquor.
- Intensivo (Intensive): Increases washing time to enhance cleaning effects.
- Desinfección/Desinfecção (Disinfection): Maintains washing temperature above 60ºC for more than 30 minutes to effectively remove harmful bacteria.
- Delicado (Delicate): For delicate, washable textiles such as silk, satin, synthetic fibers, or blended fabrics.
- Sport: Suitable for washing sportswear.
- (Acl. y centrifug.) (Rinse and Spin): An additional rinse with spin.
- (Sólo centrifug.) (Spin only): Extra spin with selectable spin speed.
The washing machines feature a control panel with an On/Off button, Start/Pause button, program selector, and a display that shows settings, estimated time remaining, options, and status messages.

Both models are designed for indoor use only and are not intended for built-in installation or commercial use.
Usage Features:
- Quick Start: A simple 3-step process to begin washing: plug in, open tap, load clothes, close door, add detergent, select program, and start.
- Before Each Washing: Users are advised to check care labels, sort laundry by color and textile type, empty pockets, tie textile strips/belts, close zips/buttons, and turn easy-pilling/long-pile fabrics inside out. Small items should be placed in a laundry bag.
- Detergent Dispenser: Features separate compartments for pre-wash detergent (I), main wash detergent (II), and softener. Users are advised to dilute agglomerated or ropy detergents to prevent blockages and choose suitable detergent types for various washing temperatures.
- Options:
- Inicio diferido/Início retardado (Delay Start): Allows users to set a delayed start time (0-24 hours).
- Prelavado/Pré-lavagem (Pre-wash): An extra wash cycle before the main wash, requiring detergent in compartment I.
- Aclarado/Enxágüe + (Extra Rinse): Provides an additional rinse.
- Mi/Meu ciclo (My Cycle): Allows users to save and recall their most frequently used program settings.
- Temp. (Temperature): Adjusts the washing temperature (Cold, 20ºC, 30ºC, 40ºC, 60ºC, 70ºC, 90ºC).
- Centrifug. (Spin): Changes the spin speed (0-400-600-800-1000-1200-1400 rpm).
- Child Lock: Prevents unintended operation by children. Activated by pressing "Temp" and "Centrifug." buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
- Mute Buzzer: Silences the appliance's audible signals.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial for extending the appliance's lifespan.
- Cleaning the Cabinet: The exterior can be cleaned with diluted, non-abrasive neutral detergents. Any water overflow should be wiped immediately with a wet cloth. Sharp objects should not be used.
- Cleaning the Drum: Rust stains from metal objects should be removed immediately with chlorine-free detergents. Steel wool should not be used.
- Cleaning the Door Seal and Glass: The glass and seal should be wiped after each wash to remove lint and stains, which can cause leaks. Coins, buttons, and other objects should be removed from the seal. Monthly cleaning is recommended.
- Cleaning the Inlet Filter: If water flow decreases, the inlet filter needs cleaning. This involves closing the tap, removing the water supply hose, cleaning the filter with a brush, and reconnecting. For the washing machine's internal filter, it involves unscrewing the inlet pipe, pulling out the filter with pliers, cleaning it, and reinstalling.
- Cleaning the Detergent Dispenser: The dispenser drawer can be removed by pressing the arrow on the softener cover. The drawer and softener cover should be washed under water, and the recess cleaned with an old toothbrush. Abrasive or caustic agents should not be used.
- Cleaning the Drain Pump Filter: This filter should be cleaned every 3 months. Users must ensure the washing cycle is complete and the machine is empty, then switch off and unplug the appliance. Caution is advised due to potential hot water. The filter is accessed by opening the service filter cover, turning the filter counter-clockwise, removing any extraneous matter, and then closing the cover securely.
Safety Instructions:
The manual emphasizes several safety precautions, including:
- Electrical Safety: The appliance must be connected to an earthed three-pole socket. The supply cord, if damaged, must be replaced by qualified personnel. Unplug the appliance before maintenance.
- Water Supply: Always unplug and turn off the water supply after use. The appliance operates within a temperature range of 5-40°C.
- Child Safety: Children aged 8 and above can use the appliance with supervision. Children under 3 years old must be supervised at all times. Animals and children should not climb into the machine.
- Explosion Risk: Do not wash items soaked in flammable or explosive substances (e.g., wax, oil, gasoline). Do not use industrial chemicals for cleaning.
- Installation: The appliance is for indoor use only, not built-in. Openings must not be obstructed. It should not be installed in humid rooms or areas with explosive/caustic gases. Single inlet valve models connect to cold water, double inlet valve models connect to hot and cold water.
- Transport: Transport bolts must be reinstalled by a specialist before moving the machine. Accumulated water must be drained. The appliance is heavy and should be handled with care, without using protruding parts or the door as a handle.
The manual also provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues and error codes, advising users to contact customer service if problems persist. The warranty covers manufacturing defects for three years from the date of sale, requiring a purchase invoice or receipt. Exclusions to the warranty are also detailed, covering issues like wear and tear, improper installation, and accidental damage.
