Do you have a question about the Jump n Carry JNCAIR and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The device described in the manual is the Jump-N-Carry Model No. JNCAIR, a versatile jump starter, power source, and air compressor. It is designed for professionals and offers powerful output, exceptional service life, and a rugged design.

Function Description

The Jump-N-Carry JNCAIR serves three primary functions:

  • Jump Starter: It provides ample power to start most vehicles, especially when a vehicle's battery needs an extra boost due to a light or radio being left on, or after prolonged disuse. It can also start vehicles without any other batteries present, though its primary use is for an extra boost. It is designed for jump starting lead-acid batteries only and should not be used for dry-cell batteries.
  • Portable Power Source: The unit can power most 12 Vdc accessories equipped with a male 12 Volt plug, such as impact wrenches, fans, radios, cellular phones, navigation equipment, camcorders, emergency power, trolling motors, coolers, and small refrigerators. The DC outlet features automatic overload protection, limiting output to 12 amps. When used with a DC to AC power inverter (recommended maximum 300 watts), it can operate appliances normally powered by 120 Vac or 220 Vac. It can also be used to maintain vehicle memory (e.g., alarm systems, computers, radios) when replacing a vehicle's battery by connecting it to the vehicle's 12 Volt outlet.
  • Air Compressor: It includes an air compressor for inflating tires. The compressor features an overheating protection switch that temporarily shuts down the unit if operating temperature is exceeded, resuming normal operation after cooling.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Battery Type: 12 Volt sealed, non-spillable lead-acid battery. This battery must be recycled at the end of its life.
  • DC Outlet Output: 12 Vdc, with automatic overload protection limiting current to 12 amps.
  • Charging Input: Can be charged via a built-in AC charger (using a standard household extension cord) or a 12 Volt Male-Male Extension Cord connected to a vehicle's 12 Volt power port.
  • Load Testing (Battery Good Condition): After a 24-hour charge, the battery should maintain at least 9.0 Vdc when subjected to a 100 Amp load for 6 seconds.
  • Operating Temperature: For optimum jump starting performance, it should not be stored below 50°F. The ideal storage environment is room temperature (68°F), as temperatures above 70°F can decrease amperage output.
  • Air Compressor Motor: Permanently lubricated, maintenance-free.
  • Tire Inflation Time: A typical flat car tire can be filled within 4-7 minutes.

Usage Features

  • Battery Status Gauge: A built-in gauge with a red test button displays the battery status.
    • Green Shaded Area: Indicates the unit is capable of jump starting.
    • Yellow Shaded Area: Indicates the unit needs to be recharged.
    • Red Shaded Area: Indicates the unit must be recharged immediately.
    • The gauge can also be used to quickly check a vehicle's charging system by depressing the test button while connected to a running vehicle.
  • Built-in Charger: Features an automatic charging system with LED indicators (amber for charging, green for complete/maintenance mode). The unit can remain connected to AC power indefinitely without adverse consequences.
  • Cable Management: Convenient side-mounted holsters with cable tracks for easy cable and clamp management. Clamps should always be re-wrapped and re-holstered after each use.
  • Durability: Rugged design allows for use in any weather condition (rain, snow, hot or cold temperatures).
  • Safety Features:
    • Automatic overload protection on the DC outlet.
    • Air compressor overheating protection switch.
    • Warnings against smoking, using matches, or cigarette lighters near batteries due to explosive gases.
    • Instructions to wear eye protection and appropriate protective clothing when working near lead-acid batteries.
    • Precautions to prevent arcing by not allowing clamps to touch each other or the same piece of metal.
    • Warnings against dropping metal tools onto batteries, which could cause sparks or short circuits.
    • Instructions to remove personal metal items (rings, bracelets, necklaces, watches) when working with lead-acid batteries to prevent severe burns from short-circuit currents.

Maintenance Features

  • Initial Charge: Upon initial purchase, the unit must be charged for 24 hours.
  • Regular Charging: Recharge immediately after every use and before extended storage (every three months if not used). Failure to perform maintenance charges can significantly reduce battery life. The battery should never be left in a completely discharged state.
  • AC Charging (Recommended): Use the built-in charger with a household extension cord.
  • DC Charging (Alternative): Use the provided 12 Volt Male-Male Extension Cord from a running vehicle's 12 Volt power port. Caution: Do not overcharge using this method, as it can damage the unit and void the warranty.
  • Air Compressor Maintenance: The motor is maintenance-free. Regularly clean dust and dirt from the compressor cooling fins.
  • Battery Terminal Cleaning: For optimal connections, corrosion on vehicle battery terminals should be removed using a baking soda solution after disconnecting battery cables.
  • Storage: Can be stored in any position, but ensure positive and negative clamps do not contact each other or common metal surfaces. Re-wrap cables and re-holster clamps with Grip Guards™ before storage. Store in the original box if possible.
  • Battery Replacement: The sealed lead-acid battery can be replaced. Contact Technical Service for instructions. Proper disposal and recycling of the old battery are required by law.
  • Professional Service: If the unit receives a sharp blow, is otherwise damaged, or is leaking battery acid, it should be checked by a qualified service person. Do not disassemble the unit.
  • Warranty: One-year limited warranty from the date of original end-user purchase, covering defects in material or workmanship. Requires a valid, dated sales receipt for service.

The Jump-N-Carry JNCAIR is a comprehensive and robust tool designed to provide reliable jump starting, portable power, and tire inflation capabilities, with an emphasis on user safety and proper maintenance.
