2.3.3 Launching Compact Reader LEGIC (issuing write authorization)
In order to validate write-protected CardLink segments for example, the respective Compact
Reader for this segment must be launched (so that the Compact Reader LEGIC can write to the
medium).
2.3.3.1 Launching (issuing write authorization)
Only with standalone (Kaba evolo)
1. Assign Master A or B to Compact Reader
2. Set in programming mode with Master A or B
Launching LEGIC prime with SAM 63 or LEGIC advant with security card C2 (SC-C
2
)
1. Present launching media SAM 63/security card C2 to the Compact Reader to be launched for
around 15s
- LED green on during launch process
2. If the launch was a success, the Compact Reader acknowledges this fact with a triple beep and
the LED green off
- if the card was removed from the RFID field too quickly, there are no signals
- if the launch was not successful, this is signaled as access not authorized
3. If a Compact Reader was already successfully launched with the same SAM 63/C2, it confirms
immediately with a triple beep
2.3.3.2 Deleting launch data
Launched data can be deleted as follows:
All launched data, stamps from all segments are deleted when the Compact Reader is reset to
the basic state (see corresponding Chapter on Factory reset/Cold start/INI reset)
Individual stamps can be deleted with the respective SAM 64 (same procedure as launching)
2.4 Reading and writing properties
Basic technical correlations
The larger the antenna in the media, the greater the reading and writing distance.
Metallic environments slightly reduce the reading and writing distance
The reading and writing distances depend on the media manufacturer
The writing distances of badges are generally approx. 5% less than the reading distances
With a key fob, the difference may be up to 20%
2.4.1 Distance between antenna
Multiple RFID fields next to each other interfere with each other, and as a result the reading and
writing distance may be reduced. A sufficient distance must therefore be maintained between the
antennas, especially for entry and exit readers.
