Overview

This document outlines the operation, specifications, and maintenance for the KAKA Industrial UB-70/UB-100 Universal Bender. It serves as a comprehensive guide for users to safely and effectively operate the tool.

Function Description

The KAKA Industrial UB-70/UB-100 is a universal bender designed for cold and warm bending of various metal profiles, including flat steel, square steel, round steel, and angle steel. The device allows users to bend workpieces to desired angles and shapes by turning a handle that manipulates a rotating body and eccentric block. It comes with different bending plates and blocks that can be interchanged to accommodate various bend types. The bender is intended for industrial use and requires secure mounting to a solid workbench due to the considerable force exerted during operation.

The bender includes various components such as a support plate, screw, forming boards, bolts, plates, eccentric blocks, crank rod, pin, scale, rivets, handle, shaft, base, and rubber grip. These parts are detailed in the provided parts list and drawing.

Usage Features

The universal bender is designed for ease of assembly and operation, though it requires careful setup and adherence to safety guidelines.

  • Assembly: The bender must be securely mounted to a solid workbench using 12mm mounting holes. This ensures stability during operations that require significant force. The handle is attached to the rotating body using bolts, spring washers, and washers. A screw bolt is inserted into the base to fix the support plate, and the crank rod is inserted into the eccentric shaft.
  • Interchangeable Dies: The bender comes with various bending plates and blocks (e.g., eccentric block #18, bending plate forming board #3, clamping plate #5) that are pre-assembled. These dies can be changed as needed to perform different types of bends on various material profiles.
  • Operation: To operate, the workpiece is clamped with the dies. The eccentric block is then moved close to the workpiece by turning the crank rod. The rotating body is subsequently turned using the handle to bend the workpiece to the desired shape. The manual illustrates five different bending functions.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety rules, including knowing the machine, keeping the work area clean and well-lit, keeping children away, avoiding operation under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using safety equipment (eye protection, dust mask, non-skid shoes, hard hat, hearing protection), wearing proper apparel (avoiding loose clothing or jewelry), maintaining proper footing and balance, regularly checking for damage, keeping hands away from moving parts, staying alert, and using only identical replacement parts and accessories.
  • Capacity Limits: A critical warning advises against bending stock thicker than the bender's specified capacity, as this can damage the tool. Users are instructed to measure the thickness of the material before use.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the universal bender.

  • Initial Preparation: The bender is coated with a protectant from the factory. This coating must be removed using mild solvents (like mineral spirits) and a soft cloth to ensure proper fit and operation. Care should be taken to avoid getting cleaning solutions on paint, rubber, or plastic parts, as these can deteriorate the finishes. Soap and water are recommended for cleaning paint, plastic, or rubber components. After cleaning, all exposed surfaces should be covered with a light coating of oil.
  • General Cleaning: Tools should be cleaned with soap and a damp cloth. Household cleaners are to be avoided as they can harm plastics and insulation. No liquid should be allowed inside the tool.
  • Lubrication: The tool should be kept lubricated for safest operation.
  • Regular Checks: Users should regularly check for damaged parts, ensure proper alignment of moving parts, and inspect for binding, breakage, or any other condition that might affect the tool's operation. Adjusting tools should always be removed before using the machine. All parts should be kept in working order, and guards or other safety components must function properly.
  • Storage: When not in use, the tool should be stored in a dry location to prevent rust and kept out of reach of children.

The manual also includes a service record section for tracking maintenance performed and required repairs, along with a notes section for user-specific information. Contact information for KAKA Industrial LLC (USA), KAKA Industrial LTD (Canada), and KANG Industrial PTY LTD (Australia) is provided for customer support.
