Do you have a question about the Kanomax ANEMOMASTER A031 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Kanomax Anemomaster, models A031, A041, A034, and A044, is a versatile instrument designed for measuring air velocity, air temperature, and volumetric flow rate. The A041 and A044 models also offer differential pressure measurement. This operation manual provides comprehensive instructions for its use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Anemomaster is primarily used for environmental measurements, particularly in HVAC applications, cleanroom monitoring, and general airflow analysis. It utilizes a hot-wire anemometer principle for air velocity and temperature measurements, and a diffusion-type semiconductor pressure sensor for differential pressure.

  • Air Velocity Measurement: The instrument measures air velocity in various units such as m/s, FPM, m³/h, ft³/min. The A031 and A041 models use a straight probe, while the A034 and A044 models feature an articulating probe, allowing for measurements in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Air Temperature Measurement: It measures air temperature in °C or °F, compensating for temperature changes to ensure accurate air velocity readings.
  • Volumetric Flow Rate Measurement: The device can calculate volumetric flow rate based on user-defined duct shapes (rectangular or circular) and dimensions.
  • Differential Pressure Measurement (A041/A044 only): These models measure differential pressure in kPa, providing insights into pressure differences across filters or ducts.
  • Data Storage and Statistical Calculation: The instrument has a built-in memory to store up to 800 data records, including average, maximum, and minimum values. Stored data can be viewed and deleted.
  • Data Output: It supports RS232C serial communication for transferring stored data to a PC and can connect to an optional printer for direct printouts. An analog output terminal is also available for connecting to external recording devices.

Usage Features

  • Intuitive Interface: The device features a clear LCD display and a touch panel with dedicated keys for various functions like CLEAR, MODE, SHAPE, CALC, ENTER/HOLD, STORE, TIME CONS., ZERO, UNIT, MR/PRINT, and arrow keys for navigation.
  • Measurement Modes: Users can easily switch between Air Velocity, Air Temperature, Flow Volume, and Differential Pressure measurement modes using the MODE key.
  • Duct Shape and Size Setting: Before measuring volumetric flow rate, users must define the duct shape (rectangular or circular) and input its dimensions. The instrument supports both metric (mm) and imperial (inch) units.
  • Zero Adjustment: For differential pressure measurements, a zero adjustment procedure is available to ensure accuracy, especially before connecting pressure tubes.
  • Hold Function: The HOLD key allows users to freeze the current reading on the display, which can then be stored.
  • Time Constant Setting: The time constant for measurements can be adjusted (1, 5, 10, or 20 seconds) to stabilize readings, particularly in environments with rapid changes in measurement data.
  • Battery Level Indicator: A visual indicator on the LCD shows the remaining battery level, prompting users to replace batteries when necessary.
  • Probe Design:
    • Straight Probe (A031/A041): Ideal for direct measurements in open spaces or ducts.
    • Articulating Probe (A034/A044): Offers flexibility to bend the probe neck, making it suitable for measurements in confined or angled spaces. Caution is advised to avoid excessive force when bending.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes critical safety warnings, including avoiding flammable gas, not disassembling or modifying the product, careful handling, and proper use in appropriate environments.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Replacement: The instrument uses six AA size batteries. Instructions are provided for correct insertion, observing polarity. Rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cd) can be used, but the instrument itself does not recharge them.
  • Probe Cleaning: The sensor is susceptible to contamination from dust, particles, soot, or machine oil, which can affect measurement accuracy. The manual recommends cleaning the sensor in an ultrasonic cleaner for approximately 10-20 seconds or in a vessel filled with neutral detergent diluted with water. It is crucial to turn off the power before cleaning and ensure the probe is completely dry afterward.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive troubleshooting section helps users identify and resolve common issues, such as display problems, incorrect readings, printing failures, and data transfer errors, by suggesting possible causes and solutions.
  • Warranty and After Service: Information on product warranty and after-sales service is provided, including contact details for inquiries and repair requests. Users are advised to provide specific product information when seeking support.
