The Kapture KPT-2200 is a 2K QHD Dual Channel Dash Camera designed to enhance your driving experience with advanced safety features. This device serves as your eyewitness on the road, recording both front and rear views of your journey. It comes equipped with a GPS logger, WiFi connectivity, and a Full HD rear camera, providing comprehensive coverage and data for your travels.
The primary function of the KPT-2200 is to record video footage while you drive, offering a reliable record of events on the road. The dual-channel capability means it records both the front view in 2K QHD and the rear view in Full HD, ensuring that incidents from multiple angles are captured. The GPS logger records your location and speed, adding crucial context to any recorded footage. WiFi functionality allows for seamless connection to a smartphone app, enabling easy management and viewing of recordings.
For optimal operation, the dash camera is designed to be installed near the rearview mirror, at the top center of the windshield. The rear camera can be positioned on the rear windshield, with flexible rotation to capture the entire road. Proper cable management is advised to ensure a tidy and secure installation. The device is powered via a 12/24V power adaptor connected to your car's power port.
The KPT-2200 offers several usage features that contribute to a safer and more informed driving experience. It provides real-time audio road safety alerts, warning you of speed cameras, blackspots (high accident zones), school zones, and railway crossings. These alerts include information about your actual live speed, the speed limit, and the distance to the alert, helping you stay aware of your surroundings and adhere to road regulations. These alerts can be individually managed or disabled through the accompanying smartphone app.
The device's LED indicator provides visual cues about its operational status. A constant red light indicates that the camera is not recording, while a constant blue light signifies normal recording. Blue flashing indicates an emergency event recording, and green flashing means the firmware is updating. A constant green light indicates video playback in the app.
Quick key functions are accessible via the power button, allowing for convenient control without needing to interact with the app for basic tasks. A press and hold for 2 seconds turns the device ON/OFF. A single press toggles WiFi ON/OFF. Two presses lock the current file, ensuring it is not overwritten. Three presses format the Micro SD Card, and five presses reset the device to default settings, which also resets the WiFi password to a default value.
The KPT-2200 is designed to be used in conjunction with the KPT-LINK App, available for both Android and iOS devices. This app is central to managing the dash camera's settings and accessing its features. Through the app, you can view live recording feeds from both front and rear cameras, playback stored videos, and download videos directly to your smartphone. The app also facilitates sharing videos on social media, allowing you to easily share important footage.
The KPT-LINK App provides a comprehensive settings menu to customize the dash camera's behavior. You can turn the microphone ON/OFF, enable or disable speed alerts, and set the loop recording duration to 1 or 3 minutes. The volume of audio alerts can be adjusted (Off, Low, Mid, High). The G-Sensor sensitivity can also be configured (Off, High, Mid, Low); this sensor monitors for impacts and automatically locks recordings in the event of a collision, preventing critical footage from being overwritten. A Parkmode feature, which activates Timelapse recording when the car is parked and the engine is off, is also available, though it requires a 3-wire hardwire kit. The app also allows you to adjust the time on the timestamp, format the SD card, change the Dash Camera's WiFi name and password, restore factory settings, access FAQs, and view the firmware version.
Regarding maintenance, the KPT-2200 requires a Micro SD Card (Class 10 or above, 32GB-128GB, not included) which must be formatted before use. Formatting can be done through the KPT-LINK App or by rapidly pressing the blue power button three times after inserting the card and connecting to power. It is important to use only the provided charging cable to power the dash camera. To ensure clear video and photo quality, avoid touching the lens with your fingers and clean it gently with a microfibre cloth if it becomes blurred. The electrostatic film included in the package contents aids in easy removal of the dash camera from the windshield, simplifying installation and re-installation. The device is designed to get warm during use, which is considered normal. Always ensure the dash camera is used within local road laws and that the time and date are set correctly for accurate record-keeping.
