Do you have a question about the Kärcher K 2.160 and is the answer not in the manual?
This document describes the Kärcher K 2.160 high-pressure cleaner, a device designed for domestic use to clean various surfaces and objects with a high-pressure water jet, optionally with detergents.
The Kärcher K 2.160 is a high-pressure cleaner that uses a powerful water jet to remove dirt and grime from machines, vehicles, buildings, tools, facades, terraces, and garden equipment. It can be used with Kärcher-approved accessories, spare parts, and detergents. The appliance features a main switch (8) for "0/OFF" and "I/ON" operation, a trigger gun (9) with a lock (10) to prevent unintentional startup, and connections for water supply (1) and high-pressure hose (3). Detergent can be applied via a suction hose (4) with a filter (5). The device comes with a high-pressure nozzle spray lance (13) and a dirt blaster spray lance (14) for different cleaning tasks.
The Kärcher K 2.160 operates on a power connection of 220-240 V at 1~50/60 Hz, with a connected load of 1.4 kW and a mains fuse (slow-blow) of 10 A. It has a protection class of II and a protection degree of IP X5. For water connection, the maximum feed temperature is 40 °C, with a minimum feed volume of 8 l/min and a feed pressure ranging from 0.2-1.2 MPa. Performance data includes a working pressure of 8 MPa and a maximum permissible pressure of 10 MPa. The water flow rate is 5.5 l/min, and the detergent flow rate is 0.4 l/min. The recoil force of the trigger gun is 10 N. The hand-arm vibration value (ISO 5349) is 0.8 m/s². The sound pressure level LpA (EN60704-1) is 75 dB(A), and the sound power level LWA (2000/14/EG) is 89 dB(A). The dimensions of the device are 374 mm in length, 152 mm in width, and 256 mm in height, with a weight of 3.6 kg.
Before startup, loose parts must be assembled. The detergent suction hose (4) is connected to its dedicated connection (5). The high-pressure hose (12) is connected to the trigger gun (9) by pulling out a clamp (11) with a small screwdriver, inserting the hose, and pushing the clamp back until it locks. A fibre-reinforced water hose (not included) with a standard coupling (minimum 1/2 inch or 13 mm diameter, minimum 7.5 m length) is required for water supply. The supplied coupling unit (2) is screwed to the water connection (1) on the appliance, and the water supply hose is then attached. The device must never be operated with the tap turned off, as dry running can damage the high-pressure pump. The spray lance (13 or 14) is inserted into the trigger gun and fastened by turning it 90°. The water tap must be fully opened, and the mains plug inserted into the socket before switching the appliance on to "I/ON". During operation, the trigger gun (9) experiences a recoil force from the water jet, so users must ensure a firm footing and hold the trigger gun and spray lance securely. The lever on the trigger gun (9) is unlocked, and pulling it switches the device on. Releasing the lever switches the device off, and high pressure remains in the system. For cleaning, only Kärcher detergents and care products should be used. The detergent suction hose (4) is placed in a container with detergent solution, and the spray lance is detached from the trigger gun (9) to work only with the trigger gun, which mixes the detergent with the water stream. Detergent is sprayed sparingly on dry surfaces and allowed to react before rinsing off loosened dirt with the high-pressure jet. To interrupt operation, the lever on the trigger gun (9) is released and locked. For longer breaks (over 5 minutes), the appliance should also be turned off using the "0/OFF" switch. To finish operation, the high-pressure hose should only be separated from the trigger gun or appliance when there is no pressure in the system. After using detergent, the detergent suction hose (4) is placed in a container with clear water, and the appliance is run for about 1 minute with the spray lance removed to rinse it clean. The lever on the trigger gun (9) is released, the appliance turned off ("0/OFF"), the water tap closed, and the appliance detached from the water supply. Any remaining pressure in the system is released by pressing the trigger gun lever (9), which is then locked. The mains plug is pulled out, and the power cord is rolled up and hung on the handle. The spray lance is engaged in its storage compartment (6).
The Kärcher K 2.160 is maintenance-free. For longer periods of storage, especially during winter, all water must be completely drained from the appliance. This is done by switching the appliance on for a maximum of 1 minute without the high-pressure hose connected and without water supply, waiting until no more water exits the high-pressure connection, and then switching it off. The filter on the detergent suction hose (4) and the sieve in the water connection (1) should be removed and cleaned under running water. The appliance and its accessories must be protected against frost. If water remains in them, frost can destroy them. To prevent damage, the appliance and all accessories should be stored in a frost-safe room. Only original Kärcher spare parts should be used for repairs.
