10.9.6 Pelvic belt
The wheelchair can be equipped with a pelvic belt. It prevents the user from
sliding downward in the wheelchair or from falling out of the wheelchair.
A loose belt can allow the user to slip downward and create a risk of injury.
It should be mounted by a qualified technician.
In a vehicle, a wheelchair user must be secured by a safety belt, which is
mounted in the vehicle he or she is transported in. A pelvic belt is not
sufficient as a personal restraint device.
