3.6.2 Cooling the step-up choke
The step-up choke is a primary source of heat and is to be treated as a hotspot
component. This component is cooled by natural air convection (gravity circulation).
To exploit effectively this physical effect, this component should be mounted in the lower
plinth area of the switch cabinet on robust mounting rails (that permit unhindered air
flow from below).
On selecting the position, the area of the air inlet at the filter mat or, even better, at the
fan blowing in air is to be recommended.
NOTE:
It is imperative you wire the temperature sensor integrated into the winding on
the step-up choke to terminal X5 for temperature monitoring!
