Do you have a question about the Keg King KegMaster 4 Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The KegMaster™ Series 4 Kegerator, including FasTap editions, is a convenient keg refrigerator designed for dispensing beverages. It has the capacity to hold either three Cornelius (Corny) home brew kegs or one commercial keg. The standard Series 4 unit comes without a font, taps, or beer and gas lines, allowing for customization. FasTap editions, however, include pre-assembled font kits with taps, as well as pre-assembled beer and gas lines with fittings and disconnects, making them quicker to set up for immediate use in homes, cafes, bars, or mancaves.

Technical Specifications:

  • Temperature Range: -5°C to 28°C
  • Internal Volume: 163 Liters
  • Capacity: 3 x Cornelius (Corny) Home Brew Kegs or 1 x Commercial Keg
  • Dimensions (with castors): 890 mm (Height) x 600 mm (Width) x 610 mm (Depth)
  • Dimensions (without castors): 840 mm (Height) x 600 mm (Width) x 610 mm (Depth) (excluding guard rail, drip tray, or font)
  • Weight: 43 Kg
  • Power: 220-240V 50Hz
  • Climate Class: T
  • Refrigerant: R600a (40g)
  • Insulation: Cyclopentane

Usage Features:

  • Castors for Easy Moving: The unit is equipped with castor wheels, allowing for convenient repositioning.
  • Reversible Door: The door can be removed and re-attached to swing from either the left or right side, offering flexibility in placement.
  • Font Fan: Includes a font fan to ensure consistent cooling for the font and taps.
  • Cold Air Hose for Font Cooling: A dedicated cold air hose helps maintain optimal temperature for the dispensed beverage.
  • Fits Standard Fonts: Designed to accommodate standard fonts (not included with the basic model).
  • Free Standing Installations: Suitable for use as a standalone unit.
  • Control Panel: Features a digital control panel with "Cooler" and "Warmer" buttons for temperature adjustment, and an "F/°C" button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit displays. A "Fan" button controls the font fan.
  • Initial Setup: Requires resting upright for 24 hours before powering on to allow the refrigerant to settle. It also needs 100mm clearance at the back and sides for proper ventilation.
  • Door Orientation Change: The door can be reversed by following a detailed procedure involving unscrewing the leveling foot and hinge bracket, removing and reinserting the hinge pin, and reattaching components. After this, the unit must rest upright for 24 hours before being powered on.
  • Calibrating Temperature: The unit can be calibrated if the displayed temperature is inaccurate. This involves pressing and holding the "Cooler" and "Warmer" buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until "SC" appears, then using the "F/°C" button to adjust the calibration factor.
  • Commercial Kegs: Supports various types of commercial kegs (A-Type, D-Type, S-Type) with appropriate keg couplers.
  • Home Brewing Kegs: Supports home brew kegs (Ball Lock or Pin Lock) with corresponding disconnects.
  • CO2 Regulator: Comes with a Keg King MKIII CO2 regulator for managing gas pressure.
  • Plumbing: Detailed diagrams illustrate how to plumb both home brew and commercial keg systems, connecting beer lines, gas lines, CO2 regulators, and CO2 cylinders to the font.
  • Stepless Clamps and Push-In Fittings: The manual provides instructions for using stepless clamps for secure beer and gas line connections, and push-in fittings for quick and easy setup, especially with MFL disconnects.
  • Balancing Keg System with CO2: Emphasizes the importance of balancing the keg system by considering carbonation level and keg storage temperature. A CO2 Conversion Chart (Table 1.1) is provided to determine the correct dispense pressure based on these factors. The dispense pressure should be set 10% above the equilibrium pressure.
  • Beer Line Diameter and Length Adjustment: Explains that beer line length and diameter are crucial for controlling flow speed. Recommended lengths are provided for 4mm, 5mm, and 6mm ID beer lines to achieve optimal flow resistance. The kegerator comes standard with 5mm ID beer line as a compromise.
  • Attaching and Removing Taps: Instructions are given for attaching beer lines to the tap shank and securing the tap to the font. A warning advises against over-tightening the tap nut to prevent damage.
  • CO2 Pressure Check: Recommends performing a CO2 pressure check to ensure the system holds pressure, especially after setup or if leaks are suspected. Gas pressures should never exceed 40psi.
  • CO2 Consumption Rate: Explains that CO2 is used for both carbonating and dispensing beer, with different consumption rates depending on the keg size and type of beer.
  • Additional Accessories: Keg King offers various accessories, including fonts, taps, faucet plugs, brushes, and beer line cleaning equipment.

Maintenance Features:

  • Defrosting: The unit may require occasional manual defrosting. Users are warned NOT to scrape ice or frost from inside walls or cold plates to avoid damage and voiding the warranty.
  • Cleaning: Beer line cleaning equipment is recommended to maintain beer quality.
  • Troubleshooting: A section addresses common issues such as ice or frost forming too regularly (suggesting avoiding unnecessary door openings, checking door seals, sealing font holes, or adjusting temperature), the unit being too warm (suggesting lower temperature settings or calibration), and excessive beer foam (referencing an online article for solutions).
  • General Safety Warnings:
    • Electrical Safety: Beware of electricity around liquids; ensure power cords are away from spills.
    • Resting Period: DO NOT power up the refrigeration unit until it has rested upright for 24 hours after transport or door reversal, as failure to do so will void the Warranty.
    • Clearance: The refrigerator needs 100mm clearance at the back and sides; failure to provide this will void the Warranty.
    • CO2 Safety: Leaking CO2 gas can cause suffocation. Always use CO2 in a well-ventilated open area. Never exceed gas pressures of 40psi with the keg system.
    • Defrosting: Do not scrape ice or frost from inside walls or cold plates.
    • Installation: Designed for FREE STANDING INSTALLATIONS ONLY.
    • Indoor Use: This refrigeration unit is for INDOOR USE ONLY.
  • Manual Reading: Users are advised to read the entire manual before operating the device.
