Fuel filter
A Fuel filter is used in the fuel supply line to the engine. This helps to prevent any
contaminates from entering or plugging the fuel injectors. The fuel filter is located in the
supply line between the fuel tank, fuel pump and the engine. This filter is a user
serviceable filter and has a stainless steel 100 micron screen that can be removed and
cleaned. This screen can be cleaned by removing the end cap of this filter. This filter
protects the fuel injectors from any debris that may collect inside the fuel tank. The fuel
system also has a Racor fuel water separator filter. Drain any water from the primary
filter as needed. This filter must be serviced every 100 hours or every 6 months which
ever occurs first.
Fuel pressure regulator
The fuel pressure regulator is preset at the KEM Manufacturing Facility prior to delivery
of the engine. The fuel pressure regulator requires no adjustment by the end user. The
fuel pressure regulator is non-adjustable and has been factory sealed as required by
EPA regulations. Any attempt to change the fuel pressure settings will void all
warranties for this engine.
Fuel Pressure
The fuel pressure is monitored by the ECM and an electronic fuel pressure sensor
installed on the fuel rail. The fuel pressure regulator is set at the KEM Manufacturing
Facility and is non-adjustable. If in the event the fuel pressure is below or above the
minimum maximum set pressure, the MIL light will illuminate and the engine will go into
limp mode. It is highly recommended to stop running the engine until the engine has
been diagnosed and repaired by a service technician.
CAUTION: Failure to change the fuel system filter as recommended can
result in premature failure of the fuel pump, regulator and fuel injection system
components.
WARNING: Fuel is under HIGH pressure, consult an equipment dealer before
servicing fuel system.
CAUTION: The fuel pressure regulator is non-adjustable and has been factory
sealed as required by EPA regulations. Any attempt to change or modify the fuel
pressure settings on the fuel pressure regulator will void all warranties for this
engine.
