      If the T&P valve on your Kenmore Water Heater is leaking due to thermal expansion in a closed water system, install a thermal expansion tank. Do not plug the T&P valve. If the valve is improperly seated, check the relief valve for proper operation, again, do not plug the T&P valve.

      If your Kenmore Water Heater pilot will not light, turn on the main gas shutoff valve if the main gas supply is off. If the gas control knob is not positioned correctly, refer to the LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS. Adjust the igniter tip if it is more than 1/8" from the pilot hood. Replace the pilot assembly if there is a thermocouple or thermocouple TCO malfunction. Reconnect the wire connector to the spark igniter if the wire is disconnected. Replace the pilot assembly if the electrode or electrical wire is broken. Replace the Piezo Igniter generator if it fails to operate or malfunctions. For melted insulation on the igniter wire or a high ambient room temperature, contact Sears Service to determine the cause.

Replace the pilot assembly if there is a thermocouple or thermocouple TCO malfunction. Replace the Gas Control if it is defective.
