dB
sensitivity
level
(equivalent
sound
energy),
resulting
in
realistic
sound
levels
for
surround
channel
applications.
A
3
dB
increase
in
sensitivity
is
equivalent
to
doubling
the
wattage
of
your
power
amplifier!
The
KSB-S1
features
Klipsch’s
exclusive
Wide-Dispersion
Surround
Technology
.
This
technology
utilizes
two
drivers
aligned
at
90°
to
one
another
to
create
an
optimal
180°
soundfield.
The
resulting
wide
and
evenly
dispersed
soundfield
is
perfectly
suited
for
rear
channel
surround
applications.
This
unique
Klipsch
approach
is
ideal
for
the
latest
multi-channel
(Dolby
Digital®
and
DTS®)
soundtracks
on
DVD
and
laser
disc
formats,
making
Klipsch
truly
“Digital
Ready.”
PLACEMENT
OF
THE
KSB-S1
SURROUND
SPEAKERS
One
of
the
principle
advantages
of
Klipsch’s
unique
Wide-Dispersion
Surround
Technology
is
greater
placement
flexibility.
Due
to
the
full
180°
coverage
pattern,
you
can
place
the
KSB-Sls
on
the
rear
wall,
side
walls
or
even
on
the
ceiling.
The
most
common
placement
is
on
the
side
walls,
adjacent
to
the
listening/viewing
area,
or
on
the
rear
wall
facing
the
front
of
the
room.
When
placed
at
the
rear
of
the
room,
leave
at
least
one
foot
of
clearance
from
the
side
walls.
A
height
of
approximately
five
to
seven
feet
from
the
floor
to
the
base
of
the
cabinet
is
recommended.
An
alternative
placement
would
be
on
the
ceiling,
either
directly
above
or
several
feet
behind
the
listening
area.
The
long
dimension
of
the
cabinet
should
be
oriented
with
the
front
and
rear
of
the
room,
or
with
the
side
walls
to
compensate
for
room
shape
and
layout.
Optimal
surround
speaker
placement
is
highly
dependent
upon
individual
room
layout
and
the
resulting
acoustics.
Experiment
with
speaker
placement
until
you
achieve
a
desirable
balance
of
envelopment
and
directional
cues.
Consult
your
Klipsch
dealer
for
more
specific
guidance
on
placement
to
suit
your
particular
home
theater
room.
Wall
Mounting
Mounting
your
KSB-S1
to
a
wall
can
be
accomplished
by
using
the
supplied
keyhole
brackets
on
the
rear
of
the
cabinet.
These
two
brackets
are
vertically
oriented
to
attach
to
a
pair
of
wood
screws
secured
into
wood
wall
studs.
Install
the
four
rubber
stick-on
bumpers
(one
on
each
corner
of
the
rear
panel
of
the
speaker)
to
pro¬
vide
clearance
between
the
wall
and
the
cabinet
for
speaker
wire.
This
will
also
prevent
the
speaker
from
marring
the
wall.
Cut
out
the
supplied
template
at
the
back
of
this
manual
and
use
it
to
mark
the
mounting
hole
loca¬
tions
on
the
wall.
If
the
template
is
not
available,
space
the
mounting
screws
47s"
apart
on
a
vertical
line.
Check
the
vertical
orientation
of
the
marked
hole
locations
on
the
wall
by
aligning
them
(or
the
template)
with
a
torpedo
level.
Be
sure
to
allow
at
least
lYis"
of
clearance
above
the
top
screw
to
accommodate
the
lVis"
cabinet
dimension
above
this
screw
and
the
l
h"
vertical
slide
needed
to
hook
the
bracket
on
the
screw
heads.
Use
a
#10
or
#12
(272-3"
long)
pan
head
wood
screw
to
mount
into
a
wood
stud.
Check
the
fit
of
the
screw
head
in
the
keyhole
fitting
of
the
speaker
before
installing,
as
screw
head
sizes
do
vary.
Drill
the
proper
size
pilot
hole
for
the
screw
selected
at
the
marked
positions
on
the
wall
and
install
the
screws
into
the
wall
stud.
Leave
the
back
surface
of
the
screw
head
protruding
about
74"
from
the
wall
surface.
This
will
facilitate
hooking
the
keyhole
bracket
over
the
screw
head
with
the
rubber
feet
installed
on
the
back
of
the
cabinet.
The
clearance
between
the
wall
and
the
screw
head
may
need
to
be
adjusted
to
achieve
a
proper
fit.
If
a
stud
is
not
available,
use
the
appropriate
type
of
drywall
or
masonry
anchor
to
support
the
weight
of
the
KSB-S1
(six
pounds)
with
a
generous
safety
margin.
Please
consult
your
dealer,
custom
installer
or
a
building
contractor
in
this
situation.
In
situations
that
require
the
speaker
not
be
mounted
flat
on
the
wall,
but
angled,
you
may
use
an
adjustable
wall
bracket.
Underneath
the
lower
keyhole
bracket
is
a
threaded
insert
that
will
accept
the
end
of
a
bracket
shaft
with
a
74
x
20
thread.
The
bracket
shaft
should
fit
through
the
large
part
of
the
keyhole
bracket
opening.
This
keyhole
fitting
may
be
removed
if
it
interferes
with
the
bracket
shaft
or
jam
nut.
Consult
your
Klipsch
dealer
for
assistance
with
the
selection
of
an
appropriate
bracket.
Refer
to
the
bracket
manufacturer’s
mounting
and
installation
instructions
for
specifics
on
attaching
the
bracket
to
a
wall.
