Fuel System
Explosive fuel vapors.
Can cause severe injury or death.
Useextremecarewhenhandling,storing,
and using fuels.
WARNING
Fuel system. Explosive fuel vapors can cause
severe injury or death. Allfuels arehighly explosivein
a vapor state. Use extreme care when handling and
storing fuels. Store fuel in a well-ventilated area away
fromspark-producing equipment andout ofthe reachof
children. Never add fuel to the tank while the engine is
running since spilled fuel may ignite on contact with hot
parts or from ignition spark. Do not smoke or permit
flame or spark to occur near sources of spilled fuel or
fuelvapors. Keepfuellinesandconnectionstightandin
good condition. Do not replace flexible fuel lines with
rigid lines. Use flexible sections to avoid breakage
causedbyvibration. Donotoperategeneratorsetinthe
presence of fuel leaks, fuel accumulation, or sparks.
Repair systems before resuming generator set
operation
Draining fuel system. Explosive fuel vapors can
cause severe injury or death. Spilled fuel can cause
an explosion. Use a container to catch fuel when
draining fuel system. Wipe up all spilled fuel after
draining system.
Installing fuel system. Explosive fuel vapors can
causesevereinjuryordeath. Fuelleakagecancause
an explosion. Do not modify the tank or propulsion
enginefuel system. Equip craft with a tank allowing one
of the two pickup arrangements described in the
installation section. Tank and installation must conform
to U.S.C.G. Regulations.
Pipe sealant. Explosive fuel vapors can cause
severe injury or death. Fuel leakage can cause an
explosion. Use pipe sealant on all threaded fittings to
prevent fuel leakage. Use pipe sealant which resists
gasoline,grease,lubricationoil,commonbilgesolvents,
and salt or fresh water.
