Empaque/conector
NOTA: Para terminar la instalación del desagüe, puede utilizar un empaque/conector
(provisto) o calafateo tradicional. Si va a utilizar el calafateo tradicional, continúe en
la sección ″Calafateo tradicional″.
Con solución jabonosa, lubrique el empaque/conector.
Con las letras embosadas del empaque/conector hacia arriba, coloque el
empaque/conector sobre el tubo del desagüe.
NOTA: Si es necesario, utilice un martillo y la herramienta para calafatear para
empujar el empaque/conector dentro del cuerpo de la coladera. Si no hay una
herramienta para calafatear disponible, utilice un pedazo de madera angosto.
Empuje el empaque/conector hacia abajo dentro del cuerpo de la coladera hasta
que la parte superior del tubo del desagüe esté parejo con la parte superior del
empaque/conector.
Prosiga en la sección ″Verificación de la instalación″.
3. Traditional Caulking
WARNING: Risk of personal injury. Pre-heat the wet or cold caulking lead on
the side of the lead furnace before adding it to a pot containing molten caulking
lead. Ensure the fixture, drain pipe, and all drain components are dry before
proceeding. If these steps are not followed, an explosion can occur if moisture
comes in direct contact with molten caulking lead.
Dry the fixture, drain pipe, and all drain components.
Melt the pre-heated wet or cold caulking lead into a pot. Use enough lead to
ensure that the joint can be filled in one pour.
NOTE: To eliminate loose oakum fibers: Heatayarningorpackingironinthepot
with the molten caulking lead. Pack the oakum into the joint with the heated yarning
iron or packing iron.
While the lead is melting: Yarn and pack oakum into the gap between the drain
pipe and the strainer body. The packed oakum must be 1-5/16″ (33 mm) deep
from the top of the strainer body [5/8″ (16 mm) thickness].
