General Information
Koldwave 5WK Series Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps are
portable, water-cooled units designed for applications where
outside air is not available and spot cooling is required. e
Koldwave air-conditioner cools an entire area by discharging
air through its supply grille. Only power and condenser water
supply, water discharge, and condensate drain piping are
required for installation.
e water-cooled condenser requires only that amount of wa-
ter needed to achieve the desired high and low refrigeration
system pressures. e minimum condenser water pressure for
85°F entering water temperature can be found in the Speci-
cation and Electrical Data section in this manual. A refrig-
eration system head pressure actuated water regulating valve
regulates condenser water.
Each unit is completely self-contained with the entire refrig-
eration system, electrical components, condenser and water
valve housed in one cabinet. All Koldwave units, except the
5WK07, are provided with heavy-duty casters. Two swiv-
el-locking casters prevent sliding; two stationary casters
provide handling ease for relocation. e Koldwave 5WK07 is
supplied with pads on the bottom of the unit.
To attain the proper control of the water ow rate entering the
automatic water valve, refer to the Specication and Electrical
Data Section to nd the minimum water pressure required for
the condenser water supply. e condenser water tempera-
ture leaving the unit should not exceed 110°F. Ignoring this
compliance will void the warranty on the refrigeration system
On heat pump models it is not recommended to operate the
unit in the heating cycle when the water temperature is below
50°F. Doing so could reduce the specied heating capacity
and may cause the freeze control to cycle the compressor o,
resulting in a loss of heating.
With the heat pump option the user can manually select
between the HEAT and COOL functions using the touch pad
control panel or using the optional remote control.
ATTENTION: Read this manual and all labels attached to the
unit carefully before attempting to install, operate or service
these units. Check data plates for electrical specications
and make certain that these agree with those at the point of
installation. Record the unit model and serial number in the
space provided. Retain this document for future reference.
Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or
maintenance can cause property damage, injury or death.
is appliance must be installed by a licensed contractor or
qualied service personnel. Read these installation, operating
and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing or
servicing the unit.
WARNING: Install, operate and maintain unit in accordance
with manufacturer’s instructions to avoid any deterring factors
that may cause personal injury or property damage.
INSTALLER’S RESPONSIBILITY: is equipment has been
run tested and inspected thoroughly. It has been shipped
free of defects from our factory. However, during shipment
and installation, problems such as loose wires, leaks or loose
fasteners may occur. It is the installer’s responsibility to visually
inspect any problems that may be found.
