This document describes the Kolin Air Conditioner and its remote controller, providing instructions on its various functions, usage, and maintenance features.
Remote Controller Functions
The remote controller is designed for ease of use, allowing you to manage your air conditioner's settings from a distance of up to 8 meters. It operates on two AAA batteries.
- ON/OFF: This button powers the unit on or off.
- MODE: Cycles through different operating modes: COOL, DRY, and FAN.
- FAN SPEED: Adjusts the fan speed through AUTO, LOW, MED, and HIGH settings. In DRY mode, fan speed cannot be changed.
- TEMP ▲/▼: These buttons increase or decrease the set temperature in 1°C (or 1°F) increments. The temperature range is typically 17-30°C (62-86°F). Pressing and holding both buttons for 3 seconds can switch the temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit (for specific models).
- TIMER ON: Sets a timer for the unit to turn on automatically.
- TIMER OFF: Sets a timer for the unit to turn off automatically.
- SLEEP: Activates the energy-saving sleep mode, which adjusts temperature settings during sleep for comfort and reduced energy consumption. This function is not available in FAN or DRY mode.
- FRESH: Energizes the ionizer/Plasma Dust Collector (if available on your model) to help remove pollen and impurities from the air.
- TURBO: Enables the unit to reach the preset temperature in the shortest possible time. In COOL mode, it blows cool air with the strongest wind. In HEAT mode (for units with electric heat elements), it activates the electric heater for rapid heating.
- SELF CLEAN: Initiates and stops the self-clean feature, which helps prevent airborne bacteria growth by evaporating moisture from the heat exchanger. This function is only available in COOL or DRY mode.
- LED: Turns the indoor unit's LED display on and off.
- ECO: (For specific models) Enters an energy-efficient mode. In cooling mode, it automatically adjusts the temperature to 24°C (75°F) and sets the fan speed to Auto, provided the initial set temperature is below 24°C (75°F). If the set temperature is already above 24°C (75°F), pressing ECO will only change the fan speed to Auto, keeping the temperature unchanged. Pressing ECO again, changing the mode, or adjusting the temperature below 24°C (75°F) will stop ECO operation.
- SHORT CUT: (For specific models) Restores current or previous settings, including operating mode, temperature, fan speed, and sleep feature. If held for more than 2 seconds, it restores the current operation settings.
- SWING: Starts or stops vertical louver movement and sets the desired left/right airflow direction. Each press changes the louver angle by 6 degrees. Holding it for more than 2 seconds activates auto swing. There is also a SWING button for horizontal louver movement, which works similarly for up/down airflow.
- FOLLOW ME: Enables the remote control to measure the ambient temperature at its current location, optimizing comfort in COOL or HEAT modes. The remote control sends temperature signals to the indoor unit every three minutes. Pressing the button again turns off this function.
Remote LCD Screen Indicators
The remote control's LCD screen displays various indicators:
- Transmission Indicator: Lights up when a signal is sent to the indoor unit.
- ON/OFF Display: Appears when the unit is on, disappears when off.
- MODE Display: Shows the current mode (COOL, DRY, FAN).
- TIMER ON/OFF Display: Indicates when TIMER ON or TIMER OFF is set.
- ECO Display: Appears when the ECO function is active.
- Battery Display: Indicates low battery level.
- SLEEP Display: Appears when the SLEEP function is active.
- FOLLOW ME Display: Appears when the FOLLOW ME function is active.
- FAN SPEED Display: Shows selected fan speed (HIGH, MED, LOW). It is blank in AUTO speed or DRY mode.
- Temperature/Timer Display: Shows the set temperature by default or timer settings. It is blank in FAN mode.
Basic Usage Features
- Setting Temperature: The operating temperature range is 17-30°C (62-86°F).
- COOL Operation: Select COOL mode, set desired temperature, choose fan speed, and press ON/OFF.
- DRY Operation (Dehumidifying): Select DRY mode, set desired temperature, and press ON/OFF. Fan speed cannot be changed in DRY mode.
- FAN Operation: Select FAN mode, choose fan speed, and press ON/OFF. Temperature cannot be set in FAN mode.
- TIMER ON/OFF: Set the desired time for the unit to turn on or off. For settings up to 10 hours, time increases in 30-minute increments. From 10 to 24 hours, it increases in 1-hour increments. The timer reverts to zero after 24 hours. Both TIMER ON and TIMER OFF can be set simultaneously, with times referring to hours after the current time.
Maintenance Features
- Battery Replacement: The remote control uses two AAA batteries. To replace them, slide the back cover, insert new batteries matching the polarity, and slide the cover back.
- Battery Notes: Do not mix old and new batteries or different types. Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for more than 2 months.
- Battery Disposal: Dispose of batteries according to local laws, not as unsorted municipal waste.
- SELF CLEAN Function: This feature helps prevent the growth of airborne bacteria by cleaning the heat exchanger. It can be activated in COOL or DRY mode.
Tips for Using Remote Control
- Ensure the remote control is used within 8 meters of the unit.
- The unit will beep upon receiving a remote signal.
- Curtains, other materials, and direct sunlight can interfere with the infrared signal receiver.
- Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for more than 2 months.
