EffectOfSpecialLubricants
TheKomatsuengineeringdepartmentdoesnot
recommendtheuseofspecialfriction-reducing
lubricants,suchasCopperCoat,Never-Seez®,and
othersimilarproducts,onthethreadsofstandard
fastenerswherestandardtorquevaluesareapplied.
Theuseofspecialfriction-reducinglubricantswill
signicantlyaltertheclampingforcebeingappliedto
fastenersduringthetighteningprocess.
Ifspecialfriction-reducinglubricantsareusedwith
thestandardtorquevalueslistedinthischapter,
excessivestressandpossiblebreakageofthe
fastenersmayresult.
Wherethetorquetablesspecify“LubricatedThreads”
forthestandardtorquevalueslisted,thesestandard
torquevaluesaretobeusedwithsimplelithium
basechassisgrease(multi-purposeEPNLGI)ora
rust-preventivegrease(seebelow)onthethreads
andseatsunlessspeciedotherwise.
NOTE:Ensurethethreadsoffastenersandtapped
holesarefreeofburrsandotherimperfectionsbefore
assembling.
