The Konexial MY20 ELD (Electronic Logging Device) is a compact and easy-to-use solution designed for FMCSA compliance, offering a range of features for drivers and carriers.
Function Description:
The MY20 ELD is primarily designed to record a driver's Hours of Service (HOS) to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations. It connects to a truck's ECM (Engine Control Module) port and communicates with the MY20 App on a mobile device via Bluetooth to track driving activity, duty status, and other related information. The system aims to simplify logkeeping, provide real-time HOS data, and facilitate roadside inspections. Beyond compliance, the MY20 ecosystem integrates features like commercial navigation (Drive), load management (LoadIT), and a driver-focused content stream (DriveLiFE).
Important Technical Specifications:
- Connectivity: Bluetooth for communication with the MY20 App.
- ECM Port Compatibility: Equipped with a 9-Pin ECM connector. Adapter cables are available for 6-Pin ECM ports and OBDII ECM ports.
- Mobile App Compatibility: Requires Apple iOS 14.0 (or higher) or Android 8.0 (or higher).
- Data Storage: The MY20 app saves 8 days of log history on the mobile device. The MY20 TOWER stores records for 6 months. FMCSA regulations require motor carriers to keep ELD RODS data and a backup copy on a separate device for 6 months.
- Power Indicator: A pulsing green light on the ELD indicates successful installation and connection.
- Subscription: A paid subscription is required for ELD compliance.
Usage Features:
- Daily Workflow: The MY20 Assistant guides drivers through their daily workflow, including starting an HOS day, viewing Records of Duty Status (RODS), and completing Pre-trip DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports).
- Duty Status Management: Drivers can easily change their duty status (On Duty, Off Duty, Sleeper, Driving) through the app. The ELD automatically changes duty status to Driving when the truck moves over 5 MPH.
- HOS Clock Widget: Provides a snapshot of HOS clock, duty status, and current date/time. It can be expanded to a full time clock screen.
- RODS Viewing and Certification: Drivers can view their RODS in timeline, recap, and daily log PDF formats. Logs can be annotated with notes and certified as correct and accurate by signing them in the app.
- Unidentified Driving Records (UDRs): The system tracks UDRs created when the truck engine is on or driven without a connected driver. Drivers are prompted to manage these records by assigning them to themselves or sending them to the carrier's administrator.
- Roadside Inspection Mode: Allows drivers to quickly provide the last 7 days of RODS to an FMCSA official via web services portal by inputting a case ID.
- HOS Exceptions: Supports various On Duty and Off Duty exceptions such as Personal Conveyance, Yard Moves, Short Haul, 16 Hour Rules, Adverse Weather, Construction Materials, Oil Field & Well-Waiting, Split Sleeper Berth, Agriculture, and Agriculture - Livestock. Exceptions must be activated while the truck is in park and not in driving status, and before they are needed.
- Commercial Navigation (Drive): In-app turn-by-turn directions with points of interest like fuel stations, restaurants, weigh stations, and truck parking.
- Load Management (LoadIT): Centralized dispatch, document management, and compliance for efficient load execution.
- Driver Resource Center (DriveLiFE): A curated content stream with encouraging, uplifting, industry-specific news, articles, videos, and images.
- IFTA Calculations: The MY20 subscription includes IFTA calculations, requiring accurate recording of miles and location, and uploading fuel receipts.
Maintenance Features:
- ELD Installation: Requires the ignition to be OFF before installation. The device is plugged into the ECM port, aligning the pin configuration, pushing it to seat, and turning the locking ring clockwise. Installation is complete when a pulsing green light is observed.
- Troubleshooting Connection: If the ELD doesn't connect, the app provides prompts for retry scanning, troubleshooting connection, or contacting support.
- ELD Malfunction Procedure: In case of malfunction, drivers must notify the motor carrier within 24 hours, reconstruct RODS for the current and previous 7 days on paper logs, and continue manual logkeeping until the ELD is serviced (up to 8 days).
- Firmware and App Updates: The app allows for updating the ELD firmware and the MY20 App itself.
- Support: Konexial offers support via email, phone, and online training videos. The app's main menu includes a "Help" section with how-to videos and FAQs.
- Device Handling: It is crucial to remove the ELD device before any work is done on the electrical system, battery changes, or charging, as this could damage the device and void its warranty.
- Fixed Mounting: A portable ELD must be mounted in a fixed position during CMV operation and visible to the driver from a normal seated driving position.
- Mobile Device Requirements: The mobile device must have INTERNET capability with unlimited data. Mobile hotspots are not compatible. Tablets are generally preferred by drivers.
