12 Recommended Safety Distances
Recommended safety distances between portable and
mobile HF communication devices and the Kröber O2
The Kröber O2 is designed for operation in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF
disturbances are controlled. The customer or user of the Kröber O2 can help prevent electromagnetic
interference by maintaining minimum distances between portable and mobile RF communication
devices (transmitters) and the Kröber O2 as recommended below according to the maximum output
power of the communication device.

For transmitters whose rated power is not given in the table above, the distance can be determined
using the equation associated with the column, where P is the rated power of the transmitter in watts
(W) as specified by the transmitter manufacturer.
NOTE 1 To calculate the recommended protective distance of transmitters in the 80 MHz to 2.5 GHz
frequency range, an additional factor of 10/3 was used to reduce the likelihood that a mobile/portable
communication device unintentionally introduced into the patient area would cause interference.
NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. The propagation of electromagnetic waves is
affected by absorption and reflection from buildings, objects and people.
