Overview

The KitSound Classic DAB Portable Radio with Bluetooth is a versatile audio device offering multiple listening options and convenient features.

Function Description:

This portable radio provides access to DAB+ and FM radio broadcasts, as well as playback from USB drives, Micro SD cards, and Bluetooth-enabled devices. It also includes an Aux-in port for wired connections and an alarm function.

Usage Features:

Power Source and Getting Started:

The device is powered and charged via a micro USB cable (supplied). Upon connecting to a power supply, the LCD display will light up, and the Classic DAB will enter standby mode.

General Operation:

  • Short press the Power button (13) to turn the device on and enter DAB mode, or to return to standby mode showing time and battery.
  • The LCD display backlight dims in standby mode.
  • Volume can be adjusted using the Volume+ (11) or Volume- (12) buttons.

Listening to DAB Broadcast:

  • Fully extend the Antenna (19).
  • Press Mode (5) until "DAB" appears on the LCD display (10).
  • The radio will automatically search for stations and set the time and date.
  • Navigate stations using Previous (7) or Next (8).
  • If no stations are found, the display will show "Not Available."
  • Manual rescan in DAB mode is possible by short pressing Scan (6).

Listening to FM Broadcast:

  • Fully extend the Antenna (19).
  • Press Mode (5) until "FM" appears on the LCD display (10).
  • Use short/long presses of Previous (7) or Next (8) to find desired stations.
  • Short press Scan (6) to auto-select the nearest station with a strong signal.

Presets (DAB/FM):

  • Store up to 20 presets (10 DAB, 10 FM).
  • To store: Find your desired station, press and hold Preset (3) to enter programming mode (display shows "<Preset Empty 1>"), use Previous (7) or Next (8) to select a memory location, then press Select (4).
  • To select: Short press Preset (3), use Previous (7) or Next (8) to find your desired station, then press Select (4).

Aux Input:

  • Press Mode (5) until "Aux-in" appears on the LCD display (10).
  • Connect an aux cable to the Aux-in port (16) and to your device to play music.

USB Playback:

  • Press Mode (5) until "USB" appears on the LCD display (10).
  • Plug a USB stick into the USB Port (14).
  • Use Previous (7) and Next (8) to skip tracks.

Micro SD Playback:

  • Press Mode (5) until "TF Card" appears on the LCD display (10).
  • Plug a Micro SD card into the Micro SD card slot (15).
  • Use Previous (7) and Next (8) to skip tracks.

Playing through Bluetooth:

  • Press Mode (5) until "Bluetooth" appears on the LCD display (10); "Pairing" will be shown.
  • Activate Bluetooth on your device and select "KS Classic DAB" from the list.
  • If prompted for a passkey, enter "0000".
  • Once paired, the display will show "Bluetooth Connected."
  • Control music either via your device or the Classic DAB (Previous (7)/Next (8) to skip, Play/Pause (6) to play/pause).

Pairing and Repairing via Bluetooth:

  • The device automatically tries to connect to the last paired device.
  • To re-enter pairing mode, hold down Select (4) until a beep is heard; "Bluetooth connected" will change to "Bluetooth pairing (Flashing)."

Time Settings:

The Classic DAB automatically sets the time from DAB or FM stations. The time is shown in standby mode by short pressing Power (13).

Battery Settings:

When connected to mains power via the micro USB charge cable, the Classic DAB continuously charges. A battery icon on the LCD display (10) indicates the charge level.

Setting the Alarm:

  • In standby mode, press and hold Alarm (2) to enter alarm settings.
  • Follow prompts using Next (8) to select ON/OFF, hour, minute, mode (Once/Daily/Weekdays/Weekends), alarm type (Beeper 1/Beeper2/DAB/FM), and volume, confirming each selection with Select (4).
  • An alarm icon will appear on the LCD display when set.
  • To turn off the alarm, hold Alarm (2), use Next (8) to select OFF, and click Select (4).
  • The alarm will sound regardless of the current mode.

Maintenance Features:

Care for your Classic DAB:

  • DO NOT: Get the device wet, drop it (voids warranty), open it (no user-serviceable parts, embedded battery), or expose it to extreme temperatures or rapid temperature changes.
  • DO: Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth and no detergents.

Recycling Information:

Products with the 'Crossed Through' wheelie bin symbol should be recycled separately from household waste. Do not dispose of the appliance in normal household waste. Local appliance retailers may offer a 'take-back' scheme, or contact local government authorities for recycling advice. Packaging should also be recycled responsibly. Lithium-ion batteries should be returned to a battery recycling collection point.
