Overview

This document describes the KYOWA Induction Cooker, Model No: KW-3639, an appliance designed for domestic household use. It provides comprehensive instructions for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, ensuring safe and efficient use.

Function Description

The KYOWA Induction Cooker is an advanced cooking appliance that utilizes electromagnetic induction to directly heat cookware. This method offers several advantages over traditional cooking methods, including faster heating, precise temperature control, and improved energy efficiency. The cooker is designed to handle various cooking tasks, including hot pot, stir-frying, rice cooking, and water boiling, making it a versatile addition to any kitchen.

The core functionality of the induction cooker relies on a crystal plate beneath which an electromagnetic coil is located. When an induction-compatible pot or pan is placed on the plate and the unit is activated, the coil generates a rapidly oscillating magnetic field. This field induces eddy currents directly within the base of the cookware, causing it to heat up. The plate itself remains relatively cool, as heat is generated within the pot rather than transferred from a hot surface.

The cooker features a control panel with a digital display and a function key, allowing users to select different cooking modes and adjust settings. It is equipped with voltage protection, enabling it to function even if the voltage fluctuates between 85V and 280V, which enhances its reliability in areas with unstable power supplies.

Usage Features

To begin using the KYOWA Induction Cooker, users must first remove all packaging materials and untangle the power cable. The unit is then plugged into a power outlet. Once an appropriate cooking pot or pan is placed on the crystal plate, the display screen will light up, indicating that the unit is ready for operation. The cooker is turned ON by pressing the ON/OFF button.

The cooker offers several distinct cooking functions, each with specific settings:

  • Hot Pot: When the Hot Pot function is selected, the display shows a default wattage of 1400W. Users can adjust the wattage to 10 different power levels, ranging from 200W to 1600W, by turning the Induction Cooker knob clockwise or counter-clockwise. The cooking time can be set from 1 minute to 4 hours using the Timer/Preset button.

  • Stir Fry: For stir-frying, the default temperature setting is 200°C. The temperature can be adjusted to 10 levels, from 60°C to 270°C, using the knob. Similar to the Hot Pot function, the cooking time can be set from 1 minute to 4 hours.

  • Rice: In the Rice function, the wattage is fixed at 1000W and cannot be adjusted. The preset time for cooking rice can be set from 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes.

  • Water: When boiling water, the wattage is fixed at 1500W. The preset time for this function can also be set from 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes.

Once the set cooking time is finished, the unit automatically stops heating. If users wish to stop cooking before the set time has elapsed, they can press the ON/OFF button to turn the unit OFF. The internal fan will continue to operate for a period to cool down the unit.

The cooker is designed to work with specific types of cookware. Acceptable pans and pots include those made of iron metal, stainless steel, cast iron, and iron enamel, provided they contain enough magnetic inducting material. The bottom of the cookware should be smooth and even, with a diameter between 16 cm and 24 cm. Unacceptable cookware includes non-iron metal, ceramic pots, glass, and pans with copper or aluminum bottoms. Cookware with rough or uneven bottoms, or a diameter less than 16 cm, is also unsuitable.

Safety is a paramount concern, and the manual outlines several important safeguards. Users are advised to operate the cooker from a power source matching its rating, avoid plugging it into overloaded extension cords, and maintain a 10-centimeter distance from walls for proper ventilation. The cooker should not be immersed in liquids, exposed to moisture, or placed near magnetic materials. It should not be operated if damaged or malfunctioning, or placed on hot surfaces. Leaving the cooker unattended or allowing a pot to become empty during cooking should be avoided to prevent damage. Users are also cautioned against placing flammable materials on the panel, inserting metallic objects into the air vents, or touching the top plate immediately after use to prevent burns. The cooker should be unplugged when not in use or before cleaning. It is intended for normal domestic use and not for commercial purposes.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and care are essential for maintaining the performance and longevity of the KYOWA Induction Cooker. Before cleaning, the unit must be allowed to cool down completely and unplugged from the power outlet. The cooker should never be washed with water or any liquid.

Regular cleaning of the body and panel is recommended to prevent the accumulation of dirt and stains. Oil residue on the body and panel can be cleaned using a mild detergent and a damp cloth. The air inlet and outlet should be cleaned with a soft brush or cleaner to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.

Keeping the induction cooker clean is also crucial to prevent the attraction of bugs and other insects. Trapped insects inside the appliance can cause malfunctions, so a clean environment helps maintain its operational integrity.

For any malfunctions or apparent damage, users are advised not to operate the unit. Instead, the complete product should be brought to the place of purchase or to an authorized KYOWA dealer for inspection, repair, or replacement. Users should not attempt to disassemble the Induction Cooker themselves, as there are no user-serviceable parts inside. All service and repairs must be referred to an authorized KYOWA service facility.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues. For example, error codes like E1 (plate surface temperature sensor open) and E2 (IGBT temperature sensor open) indicate the need to contact an authorized service center. Error codes E3 (irregular supply voltage: too high) and E4 (irregular supply voltage: too low) suggest checking the power supply and waiting for it to normalize. E5 (plate surface temperature sensor short-circuited or empty pot heating) requires waiting for the unit to cool down and then refilling the pot. E6 (fan failure or vent blockage) indicates a need to clean the vent or contact a service center if the issue persists. E7 (coil panel not connected well) also requires contacting a service center. Finally, E8 (pan not detected) means either no pan is on the plate or the pan being used is not suitable for induction, prompting users to use acceptable cookware as indicated in the manual.
