7.2.2 [SB28_60] and [SB28_100] presets
The [SB28_60] preset features a 60 Hz low-pass filter allowing the SB28 to be used as a subwoofer companion for
V-DOSC
®
, dV-DOSC/dV-SUB, KUDO
®
, and ARCS
®
systems.
The [SB28_100] preset features a 100 Hz low-pass filter allowing the SB28 to be used as a subwoofer companion for
dV-DOSC and ARCS
®
systems.
The recommended ratios are 2 SB28 for each of the following: 6 KUDO
®
, 3 V-DOSC
®
, 6 dV-DOSC,
6 dV-DOSC/2 dV-SUB, or 4 ARCS
®
. When using the KUDO
®
system in an application requiring higher SUB levels, the
ratio can be 2 SB28 for 4 KUDO
®
.
Activate the LOAD PRESET menu from the LA8 amplified controller front panel and then select the desired preset.
Refer to the ‘‘LA8’’ user manual for additional instructions. The presets are also accessible using the LA NETWORK
MANAGER software (refer to the ‘‘LA NETWORK MANAGER’’ user manual). The ‘‘STANDARD’’ mode
accessible parameters are shown in the following chart:

Note: The main system must be connected to additional amplified controllers. See instructions in the applicable user
manuals.
7.3 “CARDIOÏD” mode
In ‘‘CARDIOÏD’’ mode the SB28 enclosures extend the low frequency response of the system in use down to 25Hz.
Each SB28 array generates a cardioïd coverage pattern providing maximum rejection to the rear.
A cardioïd array is obtained by vertically arraying four SB28 enclosures, the lower of which being
reversed from front to rear (Figure 6).
If several arrays are used the space between each pair must be of 0.6 m/2 ft. (Figure 6).
7.3.1 Connecting the SB28 to the LA8
Each of the SB28 enclosures is connected to an LA8 output channel ranging from channel 1 through 4 where channel 1
is feeding the lower reversed enclosure (Figure 6).
To achieve a cardioïd dispersion pattern always check that the lowest reversed SB28 is connected
to the output channel 1.
Any additional four-SB28 array must be connected to an additional LA8 amplified controller.
