TESTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING
1. GENERAL
This section provides operational level testing and system troubleshooting procedures for
the A200S Solid-State Cockpit Voice Recorder. Testing for the A200S is based upon a
functional operational test procedure. The operational test procedure may serve as an
acceptance criteria for the unit, as well as provide pointers to probable malfunctioning as-
semblies in the event that the unit is not functioning properly.
CAUTION: THE A200S PRINTED CIRCUIT ASSEMBLIES CONTAIN DEVICES SENSITIVE TO
ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD). PERSONNEL HANDLING A PRINTED CIRCUIT
BOARD SHOULD COMPLY WITH PROPER ESD HANDLING PROCEDURES; FAILURE
TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE ESD SENSITIVE DEVICES RENDERING
THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD USELESS. PRIOR TO HANDLING A PRINTED CIR-
CUIT BOARD, ENSURE PROPER PERSONNEL GROUNDING TECHNIQUES ARE
USED. ALSO, ENSURE THAT ALL CIRCUIT BOARDS ARE PLACED INTO STATIC
SHIELDING CONDUCTIVE BAGS WHEN HANDLING OR STORING.
The A200S is a completely solid-state device which has no moving parts. The A200S
may be purchased with either of two memory configurations (FCSSU). One configuration
(P/N S200–XX03–XX) records high quality audio from four cockpit audio inputs for a
30-minute duration. This configuration also records a fifth internal standard quality re-
cording of a combination of the pilot, co-pilot, and spare audio inputs for a 30-minute
duration. Time code or rotor speed may be provided to the recorder on either Channel 1,
Channel 2, or Channel 3 for internal standard quality recording.
The second configuration (P/N S200–XX12–XX) also records high quality audio from the
four cockpit audio inputs for a 30-minute duration. Additionally, this configuration records
two internal standard quality audio streams for a 120-minute duration. The fifth internal
audio stream is a standard quality recording of a combination of the pilot, co-pilot, and
spare audio inputs. The sixth internal audio stream is a standard quality recording of the
Cockpit Area Microphone (CAM) audio input. Time code or rotor speed may be provided
to the recorder on either Channel 1, Channel 2, or Channel 3 for standard quality record-
ing.
