Overview

The La Crosse Technology V21-WTHv3 is a wireless remote monitoring wind station designed to provide comprehensive weather data. This professional weather station offers both standalone functionality and enhanced features when connected to the La Crosse View™ App.

Function Description:

The V21-WTHv3 wind station displays various weather parameters, including wind speed, wind direction, outdoor and indoor temperature, outdoor and indoor humidity, and a 12-hour forecast. When connected to the La Crosse View™ App, it provides advanced forecasts with AccuWeather HI/LO temperatures, wind direction, and custom data streams. The station also features "Feels Like" temperature, which combines outdoor temperature, humidity, and wind speed to provide a more accurate perception of comfort. It records HI/LO temperature and humidity records with time and date of occurrence, and offers programmable alerts for wind, temperature, and humidity. The station can also display custom messages and data streams configured through the app.

Usage Features:

  • Quick Setup: Involves inserting batteries into sensors, connecting the power cord to the station, downloading the La Crosse View™ App, and following instructional videos for app connection.
  • Mounting:
    • Wind Speed Sensor: Mount vertically in an unobstructed rooftop area, ensuring it's the tallest object to avoid reduced wind speed values.
    • Thermo-Hygro Sensor: Mount on a north-facing wall under an eave or deck for best results, keeping it out of direct sunlight and well-ventilated.
    • Station: Place near an outlet, can be wall-mounted or placed on a desk/counter using the pull-down stand.
  • Button Functions:
    • ALERTS: Hold to set alerts, press to confirm.
    • WIND, TEMP: Press to view history.
    • + or –: Use to adjust values in settings, hold to adjust quickly.
    • + & – (both): Hold both buttons to search for Wi-Fi.
    • SET: Press to view Wi-Fi Status, hold for basic settings.
    • SENSOR: Press to view sensor ID numbers, hold PLUS (+) to search, or hold MINUS (−) to remove.
    • LIGHT: Press to adjust brightness.
    • ALERTS & LIGHT (both): Hold both to Factory Reset Station (resets all sensor IDs, history, and Wi-Fi settings).
  • Adjustable Backlight: 5 levels of brightness (0%, 1.5%, 20%, 50%, 100%) adjusted via the LIGHT button.
  • Settings Menu: Accessed by holding the SET button for 3 seconds. Allows adjustment of BEEP ON/OFF, 12/24 hour format, time (hour, minutes), date (year, month, date), and temperature unit (Fahrenheit/Celsius).
  • Wind Speed Readings & History: Displays current wind speed, top speed (past 60 minutes), and 24HR wind speed or internet wind direction (when connected to app). History includes one-hour, 24-hour, 7-day, current month, and year records.
  • Temperature/Humidity Readings & HI/LO Records: Continuously displays indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity. Records HI/LO values with time/date of occurrence. Viewing order includes outdoor HI/LO temp, outdoor HI/LO humidity, indoor HI/LO temp, indoor HI/LO humidity, and feels like HI/LO temp, and outdoor dew point.
  • Temperature Trend Arrows: Updates every 15 minutes, indicating temperature changes (up, steady, down) over the past hour.
  • Alerts: Programmable alerts for wind speed, outdoor/indoor temperature, and outdoor/indoor humidity. Station beeps when an armed alert value is reached.
  • Sensor Reception Indicators: Solid indicator means connected, flashing means searching, no indicator means not connected.
  • Sensor ID & Search: Each sensor has a unique ID. The SENSOR button allows viewing of IDs and searching for new sensors.
  • Delete Sensors: Sensors can be deleted from the station using the SENSOR and MINUS buttons.
  • La Crosse View™ App Integration: Connects to the app for enhanced forecasts, custom data streams (Wind Gust, UV Index, Visibility, Dew Point, Sunrise/Sunset/Moon Rise/Set Times, etc.), personal messages, and remote monitoring. Supports iOS and Android devices.
  • Status Messages: Provides messages like "ALL OK CONNECTED," "LOST WIFI," and "NO WEATHER SERVICE" to indicate connection status.
  • Additional Sensors: The app allows adding additional sensors by scanning their device IDs.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Replacement: Low battery indicators prompt replacement of batteries in the TH sensor (AA) and Wind Sensor (C).
  • Factory Restart: Holding ALERTS and LIGHT buttons for 5 seconds performs a factory reset, clearing all sensor IDs and Wi-Fi settings, useful for troubleshooting connection issues.
  • General Care:
    • Do not mix old and new batteries, or different battery types.
    • Purchase the correct size and grade of battery.
    • Replace all batteries of a set at the same time.
    • Clean battery contacts before installation.
    • Ensure correct polarity (+ and -).
    • Remove batteries from equipment not used for an extended period.
