This document describes a washer-dryer, model HJA8701, designed for domestic use. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety and proper usage to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.
Function Description:
The HJA8701 is a versatile appliance capable of performing both washing and drying functions for clothes and fabrics suitable for machine washing. It offers various washing programs tailored to different fabric types and soil levels, along with drying programs that can be integrated with washing cycles or run independently. The appliance is equipped with a control panel featuring a program selector, buttons for spin speed, options, delay timer, and drying, as well as a display that shows settings, cycle status, and recommended load weight.
Usage Features:
-
Washing:
- Preparation: Users should subdivide items by fabric type and colorfastness, washing whites and colors separately. New colored items should be washed alone initially. Labels with washing instructions, including symbols for washing temperature, bleaching, ironing, dry cleaning, and drying, should be followed. Pockets must be emptied, and items like curtains should have hooks removed or be placed in a mesh bag. Small items should be washed in a white canvas bag.
- Loading: The appliance can handle loads up to 7kg for washing. For energy efficiency, full loads are recommended, with items distributed evenly and not bundled. The door must be closed securely.
- Detergent and Additives: The internal tray has three compartments for prewash detergent, main wash detergent (with an insert for liquid detergent), and fabric conditioner/additives. Detergent dosage depends on water hardness, load type, and soil level. Low-foam detergents suitable for washer-dryers are recommended.
- Program Selection: The program selector knob is used to switch on the appliance and choose a washing program. The display shows the estimated time remaining and maximum recommended weight. Default spin speed values can be adjusted.
- Options: Additional options like Prewash, Intensive, Easy Iron, Extra Rinse, Flexi Time (to adjust cycle duration), and Buzzer (for end-of-cycle alert) can be selected and confirmed.
- Delay Timer: The Delay Timer allows users to set a specific time for the washing program to end, factoring in the cycle duration and any selected options.
- Starting and Interrupting: Programs are started using the Start/Pause button. The display shows the remaining time and illuminates symbols for different cycle phases (Prewash, wash, rinses, final spin, dry). Programs can be interrupted or changed by pressing the Start/Pause button or turning the program knob.
- Program End: The appliance automatically completes programs, displaying "END." Users should switch off the appliance, unload laundry, and turn off the water tap. If a "no spin" mode was selected, "STOP" appears, and a pump-out and spin can be initiated.
- Child Lock: This function prevents accidental changes to settings or programs during operation. It is activated and deactivated by pressing and holding the Option selection and Confirm options buttons simultaneously.
- Emergency Door Opening: In case of a power failure, the door can be opened manually using a lever at the bottom of the appliance after turning the knob to Off, disconnecting power, and draining water.
-
Drying:
- General: During drying cycles, the water tap must be on, and the drain hose correctly positioned. The appliance supports wash-only, dry-only, and wash-and-dry programs.
- Fabric Suitability: Only laundry suitable for tumble drying and washed in an aqueous solution should be dried. Fabrics like dry-cleaned items, wool, silk, synthetic curtains, or items with foam rubber are not suitable.
- Load Capacity: For drying, the load should not exceed 4kg of cotton or 2kg of synthetic fabrics to achieve the best results. Over-drying should be avoided to prevent creases or shrinkage.
- Wash-and-Dry Programme: This combines washing and drying automatically. The drying temperature (90°C for resistant fabrics, 60°C for delicate fabrics) depends on the selected wash program. Users can set the desired drying time.
- Dry Only Programme: For pre-washed and spun-dried laundry, users can select either Intensive drying (90°C) or Gentle drying (60°C) and set the drying time.
- Interrupting Drying: Drying programs can be interrupted similarly to washing programs. It's recommended to cool the load for 20 minutes before removal.
Maintenance Features:
- Safety First: Always disconnect the appliance from the power supply before any cleaning or maintenance.
- Exterior Cleaning: The exterior should be cleaned regularly with soap, water, and a damp cloth, then dried with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive products, solvents, pointed objects, or spraying with water jets.
- Door Gasket Cleaning: Regularly check the door gasket for foreign objects like coins, buttons, or pins.
- Drain Pump Cleaning: The drain pump should be cleaned if water is not pumping out, indicating a blockage. This involves removing the mains plug, accessing the pump by removing the plinth, draining any remaining water through a hose, and then unscrewing and cleaning the pump cover and impeller.
- Detergent Drawer Cleaning: The detergent drawer should be kept clean by removing all solid deposits. It can be fully removed by pressing a marked zone, and the siphon can be detached for thorough cleaning with hot water.
- Water Intake Filters Cleaning: The appliance has a filter on the water intake hose to protect valves. If water intake is insufficient, the filter should be cleaned. This involves disconnecting power, turning off the water tap, unscrewing the intake hose, removing and cleaning the filter with water and a small brush, and then reassembling.
- CLEAN Programme: To maintain efficiency, the appliance has a dedicated CLEAN program to remove fluff deposits from the drying circuit. The CLEAN symbol on the display indicates when this program needs to be run. It can also be run proactively.
- Long Periods Out of Use: If the appliance will not be used for an extended period, it should be disconnected from electricity and water supplies, and the door left ajar to prevent odors.
