This document describes the Lamona 80cm Canopy Extractor (Model LAM2303), a domestic appliance designed for kitchen ventilation.
Function Description
The Lamona 80cm Canopy Extractor is a kitchen appliance primarily used for clearing unwanted cooking odours, steam, and vapours from the kitchen environment. It can operate in two modes:
- Extraction Via Ducting: In this mode, the hood connects to an exhaust duct that vents to the outside atmosphere, typically via the ceiling or an exterior wall. This is considered the most effective method for clearing odours. Charcoal filters are not required for this mode.
- Extraction Via Recirculation: For installations where external venting is not possible, the hood can operate in recirculation mode. In this mode, air is drawn through charcoal filters (HJA2906, optional) to absorb odours before being circulated back into the room.
The extractor features a push-button control panel for easy operation, offering three speed settings for extraction and a separate button for controlling the integrated lighting.

- Pre-use Cleaning: Before first use, the appliance should be cleaned with a damp new cloth and warm soapy water, then dried thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- Optimal Operation: It is recommended to turn on the hood ten minutes before cooking begins, or at least when cooking starts, and to run it for ten minutes after cooking has finished to ensure effective odour removal.
- Condensation Management: When cooking with high water content, steam may condense on cold metallic surfaces. Using lids on pans can help reduce steam release and subsequent condensation. This is not a fault of the hob or extractor if correctly installed.
- Safety Distances:
- Minimum distance above electric cookers: 700 mm
- Minimum distance above gas cookers: 700 mm
- Minimum distance above coal/oil cookers: 800 mm
- The hood should not be installed less than 700mm above the hob.
Maintenance Features
- General Cleaning: External surfaces should be wiped regularly with warm water and a mild detergent. Abrasive cleaners should NEVER be used.
- Grease Filters:
- The aluminium grease filter helps protect the kitchen from greasy residues.
- It can become a fire risk if grease builds up over time.
- Cleaning frequency: Every 10-15 days, or once a month for light usage.
- Removal: Slide the catch inwards, then lower the filter.
- Cleaning: Use hot water and normal washing-up detergent.
- Drying: Allow to dry completely before refitting.
- Important: Do not wash the grease filter in a dishwasher. The extractor must never be operated without the grease filter in position.
- Carbon Filters (for recirculation mode only):
- These filters absorb odours caused by cooking.
- They have a limited life and should be changed when performance drops, typically every 3-6 months depending on usage.
- Access: Remove the grease filters first.
- Installation: Align over pins on either side of the fan motor and turn gently until they click into position.
- Important: Carbon filters are not washable and cannot be recycled.
- Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a guide for common issues and their solutions, such as fan not working, lamps failing, reduced efficiency, or lingering smells. It advises consulting the depot or Authorized Service Agent if problems persist after following instructions.
- Electrical Disconnection: Always ensure the electricity supply is disconnected before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
- Product Serial Number: The serial number sticker is located in the motor cavity, accessible by removing the grease filter. This information is important for guarantee claims and service requests.
