Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheprimaryharddiskdriveifyourcomputerhasone.
Forcomputermodelsthatdonothaveaninternalharddiskdriveandusearemoteharddiskdriveaccessed
throughtheSMC-StorageArray,contactyournetworkorstorageadministrator.
Toreplacetheprimaryharddiskdrive,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputeranddisconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage79.
3.Locatetheprimaryharddiskdrive.See“Locatinginternaldrives”onpage78.
Note:Thereisalsoasecondaryharddiskdrivebayforyoutopurchaseandinstallasecondaryhard
diskdrivebyyourself.Ifyouwanttoinstallasecondaryharddiskdrive,usethesamewayofinstalling
theprimaryharddiskdrive.
4.Disconnectthesignalcableandthepowercablefromtheharddiskdrive.
5.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheharddiskdrive.Then,slidetheharddiskdriveoutofthechassis.
