Supervisorpassword
Asupervisorpassword(SVP)protectsthesysteminformationstoredintheThinkPadSetup.Theusermust
entertheSVPinordertogetaccesstotheThinkPadSetupandchangethesystemconguration.
Attention:IftheSVPhasbeenforgottenandcannotbemadeavailabletotheservicetechnician,thereisno
serviceproceduretoresetthepassword.Thesystemboardmustbereplacedforascheduledfee.
Howtoremovethepower-onpassword
ToremoveaPOPthatyouhaveforgotten,dothefollowing:
(A)IfnoSVPhasbeenset:
1.DisablethebatterypackinUEFIBIOS(see“1000DisablingthebatterypackinUEFIBIOS”onpage50).
2.Removethebackupbattery.Forhowtoremovethebackupbattery,see“1040Backupbattery”on
page56.
3.TurnonthecomputerandwaituntilthePOSTends.AfterthePOSTends,thepasswordpromptdoes
notappear.ThePOPhasbeenremoved.
4.MakesurethatthebatterypackisdisabledinUEFIBIOS(see“1000Disablingthebatterypack
inUEFIBIOS”onpage50).
5.Reinstallthebackupbattery.

1.Turnonthecomputer.

blank,andpressEntertwice.
8.IntheChangeshavebeensavedwindow,pressEnter.
9.PressF10;then,intheSetupNoticewindow,selectYes.
Howtoremovethehard-diskpassword
Attention:IfUseronlymodeisselectedandtheuserHDPhasbeenforgottenandcannotbemade
availabletotheservicetechnician,neitherLenovonorLenovoauthorizedservicetechniciansprovideany
servicestoresettheuserHDPsortorecoverdatafromtheharddiskdrive.Theharddiskdrivecanbe
replacedforascheduledfee.
