Overview

Function Description

The LX-MV-360S8-A is a microwave sensor instruction manual for a device designed to detect motion and provide automated lighting control. This device utilizes microwave technology to sense movement, offering a reliable solution for various applications. It is particularly suitable for environments where stable working states and accurate detection are crucial. The sensor's ability to penetrate non-metallic objects like thin walls, glass, and wood allows for concealed installation, enhancing aesthetics and preventing tampering. The device is designed to be energy-efficient, automatically turning off the light when no movement is detected, thereby reducing energy consumption. It incorporates advanced features such as adjustable detection range, time setting, and light control, making it highly adaptable to different user needs and environmental conditions. The sensor's high-frequency output is very low, approximately 0.2mW, which is only about 1/5000th of the transmission power of a mobile phone or the output of a microwave oven, ensuring safety and minimal interference.

Important Technical Specifications

Power Source: 100-130V/AC or 220-240V/AC Power Frequency: 50/60Hz Transmission Power: 0.2mW Rated Load:

  • 1200W/5A, Max. tungsten (cosφ=1) (220-240V/AC)
  • 600W/2.5A, Max. fluorescent (cosφ=0.5) (220-240V/AC)
  • 600W/5A, Max. tungsten (cosφ=1) (100-130V/AC)
  • 150W/2.5A, Max. fluorescent (cosφ=0.5) (100-130V/AC) HF System: 5.8GHz CW electric wave, ISM band Detection Angle: 360° Detection Range: 2m-5m-10m (radius.) (adjustable) Time Setting: 12sec±3sec/3min±1min/15min±2min/30min±3min (adjustable) Light-control: 10LUX-100LUX-500LUX-2000LUX (adjustable) Installation Sit: Indoors, ceiling mounting Working Temperature: -15°C~+70°C Power consumption: approx. 0.5W Height of Installation: 2.5-3.5m

Usage Features

Installation:

  1. Buckle Cover: Through the buckle under cover (see fig.1) (fig2).
  2. Drill Holes: Hold base against the Ceiling and mark drill holes, paying attention to any existing wiring in the Ceiling; Drill the holes, insert wall plugs (6mm dia.) (see fig.4).
  3. Wiring: Put the power wire and load wire through the base holes (see fig.5). Connect AC power to the terminals.
  4. Cover Buckle: Cover buckle into buckle (see fig.6).

Parameter Setting: The device features DIP switches (S1-S8) for adjusting detection range, time setting, and light control.

  • Detection Range (SENS: S1, S2):
    • S1=0, S2=0: 2m
    • S1=0, S2=1: 5m
    • S1=1, S2=0: 10m
    • The detection range is gained in the case of a person who is between 1.6m-1.7m tall with middle figure and moves at a speed of 1.0-1.5m/sec. If person's stature, figure and moving speed change, the detection distance will also change.
  • Time Setting (TIME: S3, S4, S5):
    • S3=0, S4=0, S5=0: 30min±3min
    • S3=0, S4=0, S5=1: 15min±2min
    • S3=0, S4=1, S5=0: 3min±1min
    • S3=1, S4=0, S5=0: 12sec±3sec
    • The light can be set to stay ON for any period of time between 12±3sec and a maximum of 30±3min. Any movement detected before this time elapse will re-start the timer. It is recommended to select the shortest time for adjusting the detection zone and for performing the walk test.
  • Light-control (LUX: S6, S7, S8):
    • S6=0, S7=0, S8=0: 10LUX
    • S6=0, S7=0, S8=1: 100LUX
    • S6=0, S7=1, S8=0: 500LUX
    • S6=1, S7=0, S8=0: 2000LUX
    • The chosen light response threshold can be infinitely from approx. 10-2000LUX.

Warning during installation: When drilling, please make sure you wear glasses and dust masks to prevent the dust fly into the nose and throat causing unnecessary trouble.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to address common issues:

  • The load will not work:
    • Wrong light-control setting selected (Remedy: Adjust setting)
    • Load faulty (Remedy: Change load)
    • Mains switch OFF (Remedy: Switch ON)
  • The load work always:
    • Continuous movement in the detection zone (Remedy: Check zone setting)
  • The load work without any identifiable movement:
    • The sensor not mounted for detecting movement reliably (Remedy: Securely mount enclosure)
    • Movement occurred, but not identified by the sensor (movement behind wall, movement of a small object in immediate lamp vicinity etc.) (Remedy: Check zone setting)
  • The load will not work despite movement:
    • Rapid movements are being suppressed to minimize malfunctioning or the detection zone you have set is too small (Remedy: Check zone setting)

Important Considerations for Optimal Performance:

  • Detection Distance: The detection distance may multiply for the reflection on microwave electromagnetic field by the metal or glass materials. Thus, lower the sensitivity to reach the appropriate detection distance. Never turn the SENS knob to the maximum value to avoid error detection.
  • Surrounding Environment: The surrounding environment will lead to error action, e.g., the automobiles passing by or the wandering objects caused by the wind. Products should be installed more than 4 meters one from the other, otherwise the interference among them will cause error action.
  • Trimming Potentiometer: The proper use of trimming potentiometer: the trimming potentiometer is used to adjust the time that sensor light turn on when detects somebody movement and turn off automatically. The user can adjust the light time according to different needs. In order to carry out the saving-energy effectively, we suggest that we should decrease the close time automatically. In addition, due to the continuous sensor function of the microwave sensor lamp, simply speaking: Timer will time renewed so as sensor lamp has any induction. Lamp will keep open once detected movement within the detection range.

General Maintenance Guidelines:

  • Please confirm with professional installation.
  • Please cut off power supply before installation and removal operations.
  • Make sure that you have cut off the power for safety purposes.
  • Improper operation caused losses, the manufacturer does not undertake any responsibility.
  • The electronic components have certain probabilities to become ineffective, which will cause some troubles. When designing, we have paid attention to redundant designs and adopted safety quota to avoid any troubles.
