Overview

The Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS) system allows owners of IS 300/350 vehicles to customize various electronic features to their preferences. This customization can be performed by the owner using the navigation system screen or by a Lexus Dealer, typically at the 6-month/5,000-mile scheduled maintenance service appointment, at no charge. The vehicle must be in the "On" mode for personalized settings to be programmed.

Door Lock Settings

The LPS system offers extensive customization for door lock behavior:

  • Automatic Door Lock: Owners can choose when their doors automatically lock. Options include locking when the vehicle speed reaches 12 mph or higher ("By Speed"), when the vehicle is shifted out of Park into another range ("By Shift from P" - Standard), or disabling automatic locking entirely ("Off").
  • Automatic Door Unlock: Similarly, automatic unlocking can be configured. Doors can unlock when the vehicle is shifted into Park ("By Shift to P" - Standard), when the driver's door is opened ("By Driver Door"), or automatic unlocking can be turned off ("Off").
  • Remote 2-Press Unlock: When using the electronic key, owners can decide if one press of the unlock button unlocks only the driver's door and two presses unlock all doors ("On" - Standard), or if one press unlocks all doors ("Off").
  • Select Doors to Unlock (Smart Access): For vehicles with Smart Access, gripping the driver's door handle can be set to unlock all doors ("All Doors") or only the driver's door ("Driver's Door" - Standard).
  • Auto Re-lock Timer: If the doors are unlocked but not opened, the system can automatically re-lock them after a specified time: 120 seconds, 60 seconds (Standard), 30 seconds, or "Off" to prevent re-locking.
  • Lock/Unlock Feedback - Lights: This setting controls visual feedback when using the electronic key. Pressing the lock button can make lights flash once, and the unlock button flash twice ("On" - Standard), or lights can be set not to flash at all ("Off").
  • Lock/Unlock Feedback - Tone: Audible feedback for lock/unlock operations can be adjusted. The system volume can be set from "off" to "volume 7," with "volume 5" being the Standard.

Climate Settings

Climate control features can also be personalized:

  • Seat Heater Setting: If seat heater timer control is selected, the intensity of the seat heater can automatically adjust from Hi-Mid-Low based on cabin temperature ("Timer"), or it can be set to not adjust automatically ("Manual" - Standard).
  • Auto A/C Mode: When Auto A/C is selected, the air conditioner compressor can automatically engage to reach the set temperature ("On" - Standard), or it can achieve the set temperature without engaging the compressor initially ("Off"). Note that the A/C compressor will engage if the Auto A/C button is pressed a second time.

Lights Settings

Various lighting behaviors are customizable:

  • Headlamps-On Sensitivity: The front headlights can be programmed to turn on based on ambient light conditions when the headlight switch is in Auto mode. Sensitivity levels range from "very dark" to "very light," with "normal" being the Standard.
  • Headlights Auto-Off Timer: After the ignition is turned off and all doors are closed (with the headlight switch in On or Auto mode), headlights can turn off after 90 seconds, 60 seconds, 30 seconds (Standard), or immediately when the driver's door is opened ("Off").
  • Daytime Running Lights: Daytime running lights can be set to "On" (Standard) or "Off."
  • Interior Lights Off Timer: Interior lights can remain on after closing the door for 30 seconds, 15 seconds (Standard), 7.5 seconds, or be turned "Off."
  • Exterior Lights Off Timer: Exterior lights can remain on after closing the door for 30 seconds, 15 seconds (Standard), 7.5 seconds, or be turned "Off."

Other Vehicle Settings

Additional vehicle functions can be tailored:

  • Driver's Seat Easy Access: When the vehicle is in Park and the ignition is turned off, the driver's seat can automatically move fully away from the steering wheel ("Full" - Standard), partially away ("Partial"), or remain in its current position ("Off").

Programmable by Dealer Only

Certain advanced settings require dealer programming:

  • Access System with Electronic Key: The dealer can configure whether unlocking doors with the electronic key deactivates Smart Access ("Off") or if Smart Access (touching the door handle) is the Standard method ("On").
  • Door Lock Buzzer: If a door is not fully closed when the lock button on the electronic key is pressed, the buzzer can be set to not sound ("Off") or to sound ("On" - Standard).
  • Panic Mode: When the panic button on the electronic key is pressed, the alarm can be set not to sound and lights not to flash ("Off"), or the alarm can sound intermittently and lights flash ("On" - Standard).
  • Opening the Trunk: The trunk release button on the electronic key can be programmed for various behaviors: one press to release (no delay), two presses to release, press and hold for 0.8 seconds to release (Standard), press and hold for 2 seconds to release, or the button can be turned off entirely.
  • Wireless Remote Window Operation Buzzer: If option #26 (Open Windows and Moon Roof with Electronic Key) is on, and the wireless remote is used to open windows, a buzzer can be set to not sound ("Off") or to sound ("On" - Standard).
  • Unlock on Second Key Turn: When using the mechanical key, one turn can unlock all doors ("Off"), or one turn unlocks the driver's door and two turns unlock all doors ("On" - Standard).
  • Open Window Buzzer: If the lock button on the electronic key is pressed and a window is not fully closed, a buzzer can be set to not sound ("Off") or to sound ("On" - Standard).
  • Open Moon Roof Buzzer: Similar to the window buzzer, if the lock button is pressed and the moon roof is not fully closed, a buzzer can be set to not sound ("Off") or to sound ("On" - Standard).
  • Close Windows and Moon Roof with Mechanical Key: Turning the mechanical key right and holding for 2 seconds can be set to not close windows and moon roof ("Off" - Standard) or to close them ("On").
  • Open Windows and Moon Roof with Mechanical Key: Turning the mechanical key left and holding for 2 seconds can be set to not open windows and moon roof ("Off" - Standard) or to open them ("On").
  • Open Windows and Moon Roof with Electronic Key: Pressing the unlock button on the electronic key for 3 seconds can be set to not open windows and moon roof ("Off" - Standard) or to open all of them ("On").
  • Slide/Tilt Moon Roof with Mechanical Key: If option #25 (Open Windows and Moon Roof with Mechanical Key) is on, the moon roof can be programmed to "Slide" (Standard) or "Tilt."
  • Slide/Tilt Moon Roof with Electronic Key: If option #26 (Open Windows and Moon Roof with Electronic Key) is on, the moon roof can be programmed to "Slide" (Standard) or "Tilt."
  • Moon Roof Switch - Auto Operation: Pressing the open/close switch can automatically open or close the moon roof in one motion ("Off" or "On" - Standard).
  • Interior Light (Power Off): The interior light can be set to illuminate when Power is switched to Off ("Off" or "On" - Standard).
  • Illumination of the Interior Cabin Light when Unlocking Door: When using the electronic or mechanical key to unlock the door, the cabin light can be set not to illuminate ("Off") or to illuminate ("On" - Standard).
  • Illumination of the Interior Cabin Light when Approaching the Vehicle: When approaching the vehicle with the electronic key, the cabin light can be set not to illuminate ("Off") or to illuminate ("On" - Standard).
  • Illumination of the Outer Foot Lights when Approaching the Vehicle: When approaching the vehicle with the electronic key, the outer foot lights can be set not to illuminate ("Off") or to illuminate ("On" - Standard).
  • Illumination of the Outer Foot Lights when Unlocking Door: When unlocking the vehicle with the electronic key, the outer foot lights can be set not to illuminate ("Off") or to illuminate ("On" - Standard).
  • Driver Seat Belt Reminder: When the vehicle reaches 12 mph, the driver seat belt reminder can be set not to beep ("Off") or to beep ("On" - Standard).
  • Front Passenger Seat Belt Reminder: Similar to the driver's reminder, the front passenger seat belt reminder can be set not to beep ("Off") or to beep ("On" - Standard) when the vehicle reaches 12 mph.
  • Rear Passenger Seat Belt Reminder: The rear passenger seat belt reminder can also be set not to beep ("Off") or to beep ("On" - Standard) when the vehicle reaches 12 mph.
  • Lane Change Flasher Volume: The turn signal volume can be programmed to "Medium" (Standard on IS 350), "Soft" (Standard on IS 300), or "Loud."
  • Instrument Dimming Sensitivity: This controls the level of ambient light at which the instrument panel lights will dim, with options ranging from "very dark" to "very light," and "normal" as Standard.
  • Instrument Restore Sensitivity: This controls the level of ambient light at which the instrument panel lights will brighten, with options ranging from "very light" to "very dark," and "normal" as Standard.
  • Tilt Away of Steering Wheel: When the vehicle is shifted into Park and the ignition is turned off, the steering wheel can automatically move up and away from the driver's position setting ("On" - Standard) or remain in its current position ("Off").
  • Efficient Ventilation Mode: When the front defogger is activated, the air conditioner compressor can automatically engage to blow air onto the windshield ("On" - Standard) or blow air without engaging the compressor ("Off").
  • Linking Seat Position Memory with Door Unlock: When using Smart Access to unlock the doors, seat position memory recall can be programmed so the driver's seat moves to the memory position when the driver's door is unlocked ("Driver's Door" - Standard) or when any door is unlocked ("Any Door").
  • Automatic Rear Sunshade: The rear sunshade can be set to automatically lower when the shift lever is shifted into Reverse ("Off" or "On" - Standard).
  • Rear Sunshade Reverse Timer: If the automatic rear sunshade option is on, the sunshade can be set to automatically lower in 0.7 seconds (Standard), 1.2 seconds, 0.9 seconds, or 0 seconds.
