3.3 Switching off
Warning The line joining the compressor unit and the
cold head may be connected or disconnec-
ted only after the compressor unit has been
switched off and separated from the line
supply. Electrical shock hazard! Moreover,
the compressor unit and the cold head
could be damaged. Neither should the line
plug ever be disconnected while the com-
pressor unit is running.
Manual shut-down
Switch off the compressor unit at the OFF button.
Allow the coolant to circulate for another 10 minutes after
switching off and then shut off the circuit.
Automatic shut-down
The compressor unit is shut down automatically if errors
occur e.g. the helium pressure is too low or the helium
temperature too high. The display reads
SYSTEM ERROR
The nature of the fault can be ascertained by pressing
the SELECT button.
Locate and eliminate the cause of the fault; refer to Sec-
tion 5, "Troubleshooting”.
The compressor unit does not restart automatically.
After having eliminated the fault reset by pressing the
OFF button.
SYSTEM OFF
is displayed.
Restart the compressor unit by pressing ON.
Beginning with software Version 3.03 the compressor
unit can be restarted, but once only, in spite of the pre-
sence of the "He Temp. Fail” error message. This is to
accelerate resetting the TSH1 thermostat switch; see
Fig. 3. This function may be utilized only after the mal-
function has been corrected; refer to Section 5, "Trouble-
shooting”.
If the current consumption is too high, either the motor
protection switch is tripped and the main switch is in the
“0“ position or the display reads
SYSTEM ERROR
and, after scrolling with the SELECT button,
Locked rotor
Automatic restart
Warning Beginning with software Version 3.03 the
compressor unit may restart suddenly, even
without a reset, if the "Restart active” mes-
sage is present; refer to Section 5,
"Troubleshooting”.
Actions following a power failure
Following a temporary line voltage failure, the compres-
sor unit automatically returns to its previous operating
status.
Warning The compressor unit will switch back on
automatically when it was at normal opera-
tion before.
3.4 Removing from service
Warning The line joining the compressor unit and the
cold head may be connected or disconnec-
ted only after the compressor unit has been
switched off and separated from the line
supply. Electrical shock hazard! Moreover,
the compressor unit and the cold head
could be damaged. Neither should the line
plug ever be disconnected while the com-
pressor unit is running.
Switch off the compressor unit at the OFF button. Switch
off the main switch.
Allow the coolant circulate for a further 10 minutes after
shutting down the unit and then close the circuit.
Allow the cold head to warm-up before detaching the
flexlines.
Loosening the flexlines with the cold head at low tempe-
ratures can result in a loss of helium.
