This document is an owner's manual for the LG Cloud Device Thin Client, models CK500W, CK500N, CK501W, and CK501N. It provides instructions for installation, usage, and important technical specifications.

Function Description:

The LG Cloud Device Thin Client is a computing device designed for cloud-based operations. For models CK500N and CK501N, the product does not come with an operating system pre-installed. Users are required to purchase and install an operating system, with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2016 (RS1) being the only supported version. The manual provides a step-by-step guide for installing Windows, including installing drivers and updating Windows. The device is designed to be compact and can be mounted on the back of a monitor using a mount bracket, or used in a horizontal or vertical position. It supports dual-monitor setups, though one connection must be via DisplayPort (DP).

Usage Features:

Installation and Setup:

  • Operating System Installation (CK500N, CK501N): Users must install Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB 2016 (RS1). The manual provides a three-step process: Install Windows, Install Drivers, and Update Windows.
  • Component Check: Users are advised to check all included components upon unboxing, which typically include the Owner's Manual/Regulatory Manual/Cards, Power cord, Adapter, Bracket/Screws, Wifi Antenna, and DVI to D-Sub Dongle.
  • Wifi Antenna Assembly: The manual illustrates how to assemble and attach the Wifi antenna to the device.
  • Monitor Mounting: The device can be mounted on the back of a monitor using a bracket. It can also be used in horizontal or vertical positions if monitor mounting is not possible or desired.

Power Management (ENERGY STAR Compliant - CK500W, CK501W):

  • The monitor and computer are automatically set to sleep after 10 and 30 minutes of user inactivity, respectively.
  • To wake the computer, users can click the mouse or press any key on the keyboard.

Limitations:

  • Some games (online, 3D, 2D) may not be supported, and some high-resolution videos (including Full HD and some HD videos) may stutter during playback.
  • The "IEEE 802.11ac" standard is not available in all countries.
  • Band channels for the wireless module can vary per country, and users cannot change or adjust the operating frequency. The product is configured for the regional frequency table.

Maintenance Features:

Safety Instructions:

  • Power Outlet: Ensure the device is installed near an easily accessible wall outlet. The device remains connected to the AC power source even when turned off.
  • Power Cords/Adapters: Only use power cords and AC adapters provided or approved by LG Electronics, Inc.
  • Environmental Precautions: Do not use the equipment near water (bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, wet basement, swimming pool).
  • Ventilation: The cabinet has ventilation openings to release heat. Do not block these openings by placing the equipment on a bed, sofa, rug, in a built-in enclosure without proper ventilation, covering with cloth, or placing near a radiator or heat source. Blocking ventilation can cause heat buildup, leading to failures or fire hazards.
  • Screws: Avoid applying excessive force when tightening screws during installation, as this can damage the Cloud Device and will not be covered by the product warranty.

  • Information regarding source code under GPL, LGPL, MPL, and other open source licenses is available at http://opensource.lge.com.
  • License terms, warranty disclaimers, and copyright notices are also available for download.
  • LG Electronics will provide source code on CD-ROM for a charge covering distribution costs upon email request to opensource@lge.com. This offer is valid for three years after the product's last shipment.
