Usage Features

  • Control Panel: Features a Power button, Cycle Selector Knob, Start/Pause button, Extra Options and Functions/Cycle Modifier buttons, and a Time and Status Display.
  • Drying Cycles:
    • Normal: For cotton, linen, shirts, jeans, mixed loads (except delicate fabrics). Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: Med. High.
    • Quick Dry: For quickly drying small loads. Default Time: 30 minutes, Temperature: High.
    • Heavy Duty: For heavy-duty clothes like jeans or garments needing extra drying. Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: High.
    • Bedding: For blankets, bulky items, pillows, comforters, sheets, pet bedding. Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: Medium.
    • AI Dry: Optimizes drying times and temperatures by detecting laundry characteristics. Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: Med. High.
    • Delicates: For dress shirts/blouses, nylons, lingerie, sheer and lacy clothes. Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: Med. Low.
    • Perm. Press: Minimizes wrinkles in tablecloths or wrinkle-free clothes. Default Dryness: Normal, Temperature: Medium.
    • Downloaded (Antibacterial): Allows downloading new specialized drying cycles via the LG ThinQ app. The default downloaded cycle is Antibacterial.
  • Cycle Modifiers:
    • Temp.: Adjusts temperature settings (Low, Med Low, Medium, Med High, High).
    • Dryness: Selects dryness level (More, Very, Normal, Less, Damp). Automatically adjusts cycle time.
    • Time: Manually selects drying time from 10 to 100 minutes in 10-minute increments.
  • Options and Extra Functions:
    • Damp Signal: Signals when the load is approximately 80% dry, useful for items to be ironed or hung.
    • Energy Saver: Reduces energy consumption by drying at lower temperatures (increases drying time). Default for Normal cycle.
    • Wrinkle Care: Tumbles the load periodically for up to 3 hours after the cycle to prevent wrinkles.
    • More Time / Less Time: Increases or decreases drying time in 5-minute increments for Quick Dry and Air Dry cycles.
    • Signal: Turns melody and button tones on or off.
    • Control Lock: Disables controls to prevent accidental changes or operation, except for the Power button.
    • Air Dry: Dries items without heat (plastics, rubber). Default dry time is 30 minutes.
  • Reversible Door: The dryer door can be reversed to open from the left or right side, offering flexibility for installation.
  • LG ThinQ Application: Enables communication with the appliance via a smartphone for features like:
    • Dryer Cycle Download: Access to specialized drying cycles.
    • Energy Monitoring: Tracks power consumption.
    • Remote Control: Controls the appliance and checks cycle time remotely.
    • Push Messages: Receives notifications for cycle completion or problems.
  • Smart Diagnosis™: Provides useful information for diagnosing and solving issues through the LG ThinQ app or audible diagnosis.

Maintenance Features

  • Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter should be cleaned before every load to ensure efficient drying. It can be washed with warm, soapy water if it becomes very dirty or clogged with fabric softener residue.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild, nonabrasive household detergent.
  • Interior Cleaning: Wipe the door opening and seal with a soft, damp cloth. The stainless steel drum can be cleaned with a conventional stainless steel cleaner.
  • Cleaning Around and Under the Appliance: Vacuum lint and dust from around and underneath the dryer regularly.
  • Maintaining Ductwork: Vent ductwork should be checked for lint buildup once per month and cleaned at least once per year by qualified service personnel. The Flow Sense™ system helps monitor ductwork condition.
  • Error Code Display: The dryer displays error codes (e.g., tE1, tE2 for temperature sensor failure; H5 for humidity sensor failure; P5, PF, nP for power cord issues; 985 for gas supply issues; d80, d90, d95 for exhaust system restrictions) to assist in troubleshooting.
